This has turned into a nice rivalry between these two schools. Lots of different plot lines make this an intriguing game with ex coaches, ex players, upsets, blowouts. These two teams have meet four times in past two years. Home team winning all those games. Meeting for the third straight year in the state semi finals. 2007: Hazard 42 LCA 21 @ Hazard LCA 45 Hazard 21 @ LCA 2008: LCA 49 Hazard 7 @ LCA Hazard 28 LCA 21 @ Hazard LCA will come in with what should be this years Mr. Football in Hayden. Four year starter and probably the best QB in 1A with Whitt. Combine that with the talented WR group led by Burdette. They are experienced and hungry to avenge last years lost to Hazard in the state semi finals. Hazard comes in a big underdog same as last year. The differnce being LCA returns with the same team at the skill positions where as Hazard had to replace all of their offensive skill positions. Hazard has replaced those starters with young, talented players but they are inexperienced when compared to the LCA players. Hazard can pull off the upset but will need help from LCA in the way of turnovers and missed assignments. If that happens Hazard will need to take advantage of those miscues, control the clock to keep the powerful LCA offense off the field, and not turn the ball over themselves. Then maybe they can put themselves in position to pull off the upset. No doubt LCA is the big favorite in this years matchup and should win. Hazard looks foward to coming down and giving it our best shot. Its been a fun three years following this football team and we hope to represent not only Hazard and Perry County, but the whole mountain region with hardwork, determination and class. Good luck to both teams, here is hoping Hazad can pull off the upset again!

Game should decide district champ and home field for first two rounds of playoffs. Harlan has improved from last year and has closed the gap between themselves and Hazard. Tough road trip to Harlan, Bulldogs coming in beat down by their last two games. Games they could have won but they were unable to finish scoring drives once they got into scoring position against Corbin and Breathitt. Give the defense of the Redhounds and Bobcats credit. Hazard has turned the ball over 7 times inside their opponents 30, three of those inside the 5 yard line, in the last two weeks. If the young skill players of Hazard can convert their field position into scores they should be able to pull this one out. If they let a well coach, much improved Harlan team hang around they could be facing their first district loss and probably will have to travel back to Harlan in the second week of the playoffs.

I have always thought in baseball the team with "lesser" talent will beat the team with "more" talent more often then other sports. Just the nature of the game.
