  1. "Duh". Do people even say that anymore? You said they have not slacked off I was just asking about those two weeks that they lost. By the way, Doss lost to Fern Creek who just lost to Scott Co. who lost to Oldham Co. who lost to JH who lost to Doss. What does that mean? Absolutely nothing! So, with that being said, JH wins and I'm sticking with my original score 35-21.

  2. The Doss TD in the 3rd was scored after a long kick return to the 10 or 15 yard line. The QB scored on the next play. I would say that TD was a result of the long kick return. Maybe that's where he got the two kick returns for TDs. Regardless it will be another good game.

Yes I was at the game. Thanks for the clarification, and K&K G is correct. That was my mistake, but the long return NEAR the goal line set up the TD.

  3. ColonelMike is right. The game was closer than the score indicates. Oldham Co. has a very solid team, #40 is the best LB I've seen all year and #20RB and #3 QB were great competitors. OC is a very hard nosed football team!

As expected JH's speed was too much on offense, and their Def. was able to slow the OC. Offense down enough to win the game. If JH continues to play as they have the last three weeks, they will be very hard to beat. Looking forward to the Doss game next week, should be a good one!

Couldn't agree more. #40 and #20 are extremely tough, and OC can be very proud of their performance. The game was much closer than the final score indicates.

  4. I don't necessarily how much better Central got over the year, but that John Hardin game was a function of how good John Hardin is/was, moreso than how bad Central played, which they did. John Hardin was IMO the second best team Central played all year (behind Boyle County), and a big reason why I felt they would be the ones to knock off Bowling Green.

Central was not a great team. The reasons for that are mixed, relating to talent and use of that talent, and general attitude of the program right now. But they were better than they showed at times this year, and so when they played well, or at least respectable, it always looked more surprising than it should have been to those that were simply comparing scores. Grayson County and Hopkinsville were perfect examples. Grayson County they played different (read: wrong) personnel for whatever reason, and so they lost by 3 to a bad team. Hopkinsville they took a while to do so, but they eventually put in their original (read: best) personnel, and they lost by 2 to a decent team. People came away with the impression that Hoptown must be awful because they nearly lost to Central, when I felt that result was a much clearer reflection of Central than the Grayson result, where they essentially played with their arm tied behind their back. That bore out very clearly when Hopkinsville devastated Grayson County in the playoffs, when the scores would seemingly have indicated a close game.

That's why I feel that it's just incredibly short sighted for someone to think that Bowling Green will win solely based on the score differential, when it was clear to someone who watched both games that they were extremely similar, right up to the last 6 minutes. That's not to say I don't think BG will win, because I think they will. I just don't think it's because Owensboro only beat Central by 8.

Very well said and thanks for the insight. Couldn't agree more.

  5. With 6 minutes left in their respective games, Owensboro led by 22-0 over Central, Central's ball, and Bowling Green led 24-14, Central's ball. The only difference is that Bowling Green stopped Central from scoring and had a finishing kick while Owensboro started to falter. So, you can look at the 45-14 and 22-14 results and come away with a conclusion, but really, Owensboro did a much better job for most of the game than Bowling Green did. And Central never led the Devils for even one second, while Central held the lead for 13:36 against BG, up until the midpoint of the second quarter. BG had 21 points in the last 5:22 of the game.

That's good to know because I was basing my prediction off of the close Owensboro win last week as well. I still think BG will win this game but that brings it a little closer. Did Central get better over the year? I saw them play against John Hardin and they looked terrible. Score was 54-21, but it really wasn't even that close.

  6. A good team starts with a quality PG, and this team doesn't have one yet. They have talent at 2,3,4 and 5, but without a general you won't go far. I say let Liggins get the minutes, he can't be worse than Porter, I just wish he would have taken the USC football gig, Lord knows we'll hear plenty of that this year.

I totally agree. If Porter remains the PG, it's gonna be another long season. The PG needs to be a 1) great ball handler and 2) have great vision. I don't see any of those in Porter.
