Why can't the largest 37 schools be 6A, next 37 be 5A, and on down the line?
If T & X are for example the 1 & 2 big schools in terms of enrollment then how is the descrepency to the 37th team in number of boys.
What about the difference in the number of boys in the small or A classification from the largest to smallest.
I don't know these answers but I don't think it can be as simple as that but I may be wrong.

That's not the point and wasn't the issue. The issue was that 0 win or teams with losing records are making the playoffs in every other sport except football. This happens in EVERY sport in Kentucky.
We talk about sports overlapping, but if we paired down the playoffs in every sport, that would help. But let's be honest, basketball will never be touched. However, if you take out the district tourneys you knock 1 week off the hoops season. Let every team in Kentucky into the football playoffs and you only extend the season by 1 week.
We might as well let all the football teams in as well.
It's not the point or the issue of the thread but you quoted me and raised the issue. To the original point, IMO winless teams or teams with losing records shouldn't make the playoffs. My two years of starting in HS we won 2 games total(yes we were awful), we did not deserve or have any business in the playoffs.

All the extra teams? Only 31 teams in Kentucky didn't make the playoffs this season. If you put everyone in, you have an extra week of playoffs (just like Indiana). I would imagine the classes might be adjusted evenly if the KHSAA went to this plan. It really wouldn't be that difficult to "manage" this system.
You cant just adjust classes evenly by number of teams if you base the classifications on enrollment.

And some teams with wins don't make the playoffs.
The problem is that football is the ONLY team sport in KY where some teams do not make the playoffs. Would you be willing to limit the number of teams in the playoffs for all sports?
Probably not but just about every other sport can be played on back to back days or with a day of rest in between games. The same is not true with football. So how would you manage a playoff system with all the extra teams?

Two State Champs from Louiyville:D and two from NKY I would say pretty excellent football is played in both places. Whats Lexington's excuse:D?

We all know that insurance companies will be overally cautious in thier decision and IMO the cannon has no chance of being fired again. Even if they okay'd it, if it was my decision I would choose to shelf it after a serious injury.
By the way the cannon fires blanks or there would be holes all over Ft. Thomas, I would suggest researching something that could possibly replicate the sound without the explosives or improving the PA system and have video and audio to show of the cannon going off on the big screen when they score. Not the same but no one gets hurt.

Continue with the development of players in the CCYFL, get the community even more involved in the program and I would like to see HHS back on the schedule! As for getting to the state next year I might have to agree with cover corner.
-
No but with 6 classes even winless teams make the playoffs.

Based on 2006 classifications:
4A Trinity (over Simon Kenton and Christian County)
3A Highlands (over Central, Bell County, Bullitt East (?))
2A Fort Campbell (over Breathitt County)
1A Newport Central Catholic (over Beechwood, Hazard)

Play, win lose or draw I can't see it being much fun on the sidelines.

4 + 1 is the only solution IMO again that is if you see it as a problem, but there is a public vs private section already where this has been debated ad nauseum.

Maybe NKU could get off thier butt's and start a football team and the state finals could alternate every couple years or so. NKU, EKU, UL, WKU, etc, just a thought, but I am sure BG will be a fine host.

Did you watch the game?
No but I listened to it, they lost by 3 scores and I never heard anything that made the game seem overly in doubt or that HHS was being given all they wanted.

1. T
2. HHS
3. X
4. Central
5. Bell Co.
6. Boyle Co
7. Ft. Campbell
8. Beechies
9. Christian Co.
10. NCC

Yes, they will win three in a row. They have enough talent coming back and they are constantly improving and molding their underclassmen. Of all the teams I played against in HS, no teams players made a bigger leap in physical development from thier sophmore to junior years than HHS players. This hasn't and probably will never change.

What are you guys afraid of. If you truly are the King of the Bluegrass, best in the state, etc, you should be eager to move up. What are you waiting for? We'd love to settle it on the field, not on a pc keyboard.
2000 boys from the entire Louisville area or 200-300 boys from Ft. Thomas yeah they should be eager to jump up. Whats amazing is that HHS beat you in this decade. Sometimes T fans go a little

Where it with pride my friend.:thumb:

With all do respect... Hazard and Christian County gave Beechwood and Highlands all they wanted.
Central and Trinity were pretty much untouched.
Losing a statee championship by three touchdowns is giving someone all they wanted:confused:

Guys there is really no need to fight about it. After a second person is injured and quite severly who would even want to be on the crew. I know it is a wonderful tradition and quite intimidating for visting teams but it is over. Find a new tradition and enjoy your program as being one of the best in the state.

I will be praying for a full and speedy recovery for Mr. Roller. I do think at this point it would require a miracle for the cannon to ever be fired at Highlands again.
-
Will do, hope everyone is ok

A Hoosier never earned Mr. Football honors at Trinity:thumb:
I'm sure its not from lack of trying, so where is the difference>

Before the games got started today I just wanted to give a big congratulations to all of these teams. There has been alot of trash talk about who is better, who works harder and scoring predictions on here this week. I think we can all agree that no matter who wins the next couple of games that all these young men have busted thier tails all year to make it this far. All should leave the field at Papa John's this weekend and be extremely proud of thier accomplishments. Congratulations and good luck to everyone out there. Lets have some good, hard hitting and injury free games.:ylsuper:

Relax jimmyref/Bomber/Tiger fan.
Stating that he lives in Indiana is not a sign of being hateful. Sure Rolandan Finch, Jr. went to Catholic school in Indiana and was coming to Trinity until the last possible moment. We may have turned him into a DE.
I guess he played for Floyd County Catholic. I don't believe Sacred Heart had it's own team. I don't blame him for not wanting to be educated at Jeffersonville or Providence. I do believe he'll leave Ky to start his college career.
IMO Tim Phillips has better seasonal and career stats achieved against tougher competition.
Don't give me that grief. I cannot help how the St. Xavier faithful interpret my post. If they take offense, so be it. I stated a simple fact for those who may not realize Finch, Jr. lives in Indiana. It would have been fine had he came to Trinity and won Mr. Football as an Indiana resident?? Here's hoping this is just rivalry smack talk and not hypocrisy>

I wrote that in a joking manner, but its probably not a subject to take lightly. Sorry
