  1. Taking the wife up to University of Cincinnati (the school) to have some more concussion testing done with one of the UC team doctors. Apparently he is doing some study and wants her to be a part of it. Its been a rough go for her, shes better than she was, but long way to go.

  2. What I don't understand is why it is counted against the Reds, with regards to the number of home games. I understand it when it's the NFL and it's just one game...somebody HAS to be the home team. But, with two games here, the Reds should lose a home game, and the Cardinals should lose the other one. I don't see why it's that hard. (And it's not just about the Reds...it's a philosophical viewpoint on any two teams forced to play at a neutral site that far away.)

That only works if you play a 4 game series out of the country. Then each team loses 2 home games, which is a series (well sorta a series.)

  3. I didn't realize until this morning that Ohio State put their report out AFTER the press conference, which essentially gave reporters no way to ask questions about the report. They then said this matter is closed and he will no longer answer questions about anything other than football.

Those reporters should ask only questions about that report this entire season.

Like I said, University covering itself, nothing more here.

  4. Oh, I didn't realize you were talking about academics I thought this was about sports/football. I am confident that the school that is the topic of this thread is not attracting transfers because of test scores.

Agreed, Douglas is set up to be the tech/vocational style school is it not?

  5. Talent is not the issue in Lexington. There's plenty of talent and with the transfers (10 this year that I am aware of) from Lexington and other parts of the state, the talent is more concentrated at Frederick Douglas. For whatever reason Douglas is the "chosen one" for Lexington football. They are shiny and new with great facilities, and more resources than any other Lexington public school. The plan as the school was being developed was to build a football program in Lexington to contend for state titles and create a show piece for FCPS. The administration, teachers and coaching staff were assembled with that in mind. With a little research you can find a "football" connection and relationships that existed prior to the schools existence. The ties do not stop within the walls of the school they extend to the central office and the Fayette County AD.

Concentration of talent, excellent facilities, more resources, connected administration (in side and outside the building) that works with the coaching staff toward a common goal, best and hardest working coaching staff in Lexington, majority of coaching staff that works in the building, etc.. This coupled with the dilution of some of the talent and numbers at the other schools in Lexington has led to FD's rapid rise to the top in Lexington and a challenger for a higher ranking in the state.

    Perfect post!

  6. I understand it's one administration, don't they compile statistics for each individual school?

Dont know, dont care, if your looking at test scores as a school standard than you really dont value an education to start with. Furthermore do you trust said administration to give accurate statistics?

  7. I disagree. If one school has superb test score and a high college graduation rate and more students move to that school from a school that has low test scores and low college graduation rate the administration will know there is a problem at the underachieving school and hopefully fix it. If they don't fix it, the underachieving school will continue to shrink.

    You are not hearing me.

  8. I beg to differ. I think open enrollment holds schools accountable. If a school is not of good quality and students leave to attend a better school, that underachieving school should work to improve or die. A school should not be able to hold students hostage in mediocrity.

That doesnt work when when the schools have the same administration.
