I like the Dunlap & Geno signings and hope the do the same with A.J.
AJ has to produce in order to be paid. Receivers are dime a dozen. Id be fine if they didnt resign AJ. Honestly, I dont think he wants to be in Cincy anyways.

Large chuck of money to older players, Id have to see the deals to say they are good for the franchise.

Remember what the old Tampa bay coach said about his team when a reporter asks him after a bad loss how he felt about his team's execution and he said I'm all for it. Its not that bad yet, I just find it really funny. Hopefully we start playing like I know we can because right now we're stinking up the place.
I get you, honestly I am not surprised to see Ryle struggle a bit in the early going. Hopefully others can see progress and they get it going in a few weeks.

Facing two good quality opponents has given us a plethora of film to go over and a very good visual indication of where we are good, where we are bad, and where we can improve. I expect to see a better team this week and on out. Nothing exposes your weaknesses like losses. It's all practice for districts and the playoffs. The coaching staff is seeing and adapting, bodies are moving or getting changed. Expect a better effort and a better product or expect different kids. Notice has been given. " Earn your time "
If Boone wins this game, you may need riot gear to get home.

NKY football is bad overall this year as a whole. At least so far.

Let’s not forget that NewCath’s coach was Campbell County’s coach last year. That is a story line in and of itself.
Not hard to forget, he still is a camel according to twitter.

No disrespect meant, but if FD does not take this with a running clock, then I can't seem them a serious contender when it comes to 6-A,
Thats not really a fair statement either. Say they get up 28, then decide to work on some things up the middle, not try to just score, and in turn it doesn't get the game to a running clock. Looking at the scoreboard, and using that to determine how the game went can be very unreliable.
-
What in the world is any 6-A team doing playing a 1-A team. Have they no self respect or pride ?
After a team dropped out of district play Paintsville need a game, and Douglas only had 9 scheduled, so dumb luck.

Pick it up clowns.

Differences in unions. The baseball union is viewed as the most powerful in all of sports if not all of unions. They call the shots. One can argue baseball argues is because so much power is given to the players, but that is for another thread. Sorry to derail us from OBJ.
The Unions are only that powerful if those involved with them let them be.

This show is still going wow!

This goes to the "toughen up your schedule" crowd.
Say Paintsville gets clocked. Just demolished. Say a guy or two get dinged up. Say this is worst case scenario for them...
Is it worth it to have "played tougher competition"? I don't know that I think it is.
Sure, they don't need to schedule Fulton City. But, if they get run, will it have been worth it?
Thats what I said in the Beechwood thread about their schedule. However you have to remember, this game only got schedule because a team dropped off of Paintsvilles schedule and FD had that week open. I dont think these two schools schedule this game under regular scheduling.

A good coaching staff can make practice more than enough preparation for a game. Where I went and the coach I played for made sure practices were harder than games.
With todays practice rules its harder to do that.

Depends on where you are in the season. In the early weeks you want as many kids getting playing time as possible. Have to see what your backups can do with the #1's. Have to see where some of your own weaknesses are so you can improve on them. Have to see if somethings you may or may not use later will work.
The district part of the schedule gets tricky, still need to work on things, but also dont want any injuries, so you balance it.
Last 2 weeks of the regular season, you get there as fast as possible and go home.
I also think your roster size plays a part in this, the bigger the roster, the more players to get playing time for, the less running clocks you may want.
Also, when you play your JV games has a factor in this too. Many NKY teams play JV on Saturday mornings, you dont want to play your JV guys too long on Friday night, then play them again less than 12 hours later.

I hope we have opportunity to meet this time.
Careful what you ask for lol. Im teasing FTN.

When did KHSAA start doing the running clock at 36 points? Does anyone know?
2014 or 2015.

They should have hooked the chair she was sitting on up and fried her right there in the courtroom.
-
Boyd County got themselves off the list right quick.
So did Grant Co.
-
Then obviously that rule wouldn't apply...
So how do we pick what rules apply and what dont? Is it arbitrary now. Is that the road you want to have?
-
It has to be horrible for a kid to go to practice every day and not play. Especially if you are on a bad team that loses the majority of the time. I get it that some kids don't get much playing time, but if you have a running clock on you, and you are a coach that keeps his starters in, shame on you.
Sometimes its a safety and embarrassment issue though. If your starters are not very good, what is putting your backups into the same environment going to look like? Throwing the freshman to the wolves isnt always a good idea either.
-
No second string means you're playing with 11 people?
You have a team this year playing with 9.
-
Then you have no choice but to play your starters, it is what it is then.
You can't make a rule like that then. I am also of the opinion that it is a Varsity game, why should the Varsity kids be forced to get the short straw of playing time at their level?

Cov Cath might be in a bad spot with these early games not providing the competition they need for later in the schedule.

No new Red's threads in a week. Pretty much sums it up. When will there be new ownership?
