  1. True. I guess I just don't see it as that big of an advantage given the numbers involved (167 tuition students in the entire district).
That would be 14 students per grade level 1-12. I have no idea how many are on the football team but if it were 7 per class that would help a great deal.

California has an open class in football. They take the top teams and they have to play for the open championship. IF Kentucky had done that this year what would the top 8 teams have been. Trinity would have been 1 seed. Who would have been 2-8

  2. HHS dominates by developing their own athletes thru the Junior Football league esptablished in 1950s/60s, HHS tradition, and Mueller's/Weinrick's/Turner's dedication. Trinity has a great facility and support system that draws kids from all over the Louisville area and southwest Indiana not a town of 25000 which also supplies a high percentage of the athletes for Newport Catholic. Trinity offers 'inner city' scholarships. Check the Zip Code of their players. I haven't seen that data but would find that information enlightening. I may change my opinion then. The best team in Ky is Trinity, but the best program(by far) is the Highlands program year in year out. Developes the most with less. One fifth the class size of Trinity and it is a public school. So, model football programs after the Fort Thomas/Highlands system and these games and playoffs will get better.
HHS is a magnet football school. Doesnt their QB live in Cincinnati???
  3. The KHSAA did a survey of coaches, ADs, Principals, and Superintendents.

Principals - 50% favor four teams, 29% favor two teams, 19% favor three teams.

ADs - 44% favor four teams, 34% favor two teams, 20% favor three teams

Coaches - 57% favor four teams, 22% favor two teams, 19% favor three teams

Supts - 41% favor four teams, 38% favor two teams, 19% favor three teams

TOTAL - 49% favor four teams, 30% favor two teams, 19% favor three teams.

I interview Julian Tackett today. He said six classes is here to stay and so is the four team format.

Interesting that the highest percent of people wanting to keep four teams are the coaches.

    Where did you this information????
  4. Man that 05 LC team was explosive. Probably the most athletic team Coach Mitchell has ever had. I think Wburg will be like that in next few years just will throw more.I keep that football fever all years, other sports are just to fill in till football season again. Burg will need some luck I think but only in the form of good play. Take care of the ball, dont give up big plays and cause some turnovers. Stranger things have happened!!!

  5. Fire the buses up early!!!!!! Williamsburg has a fine squad but I don't think this will be much of a game.....Hazard 63-20.....Good Luck to the Burg
Where you been Cat? Fever is still running high in Jacketland. Another District Championship and 5th-6th straight, whatever win over LC.These YOUNG Jackets have overachieved. Not sure they can hang with Hazard but I don't think you can tell them that.
  6. Curious, I looked up the top 30 schools in Rivals final 2010 national high school rankings.

24 out of 30 were public schools. The average enrollment of the public schools was about 2200 students.

There's no arguing that size is an advantage. However, it is obvious that not all big schools utilize it.

If privates make up 20% of the top 30 but only make up approx. 5% of the schools, wouldnt that say they are doing pretty well? Maybe someone can come up with an exact % but I would think 5 would be close.

  7. A team that dresses 100 on varsity, 100 on Freshman team. Usually has 25-40 Seniors. Shouldn't they be able to play on a weekly bases good teams. I do think it's a tough schedule with good programs but wasn't the team from Indiana the only 1 to win a state championship last year. Again, I think this is a tough schedule but 1 I think Trinity should have. Good luck and represent the bluegrass well.

  8. IMO: will be best in Dist. cannot compete once out of Dist.

Not sure how they will do in District . Will probably start 9-12 positions with Freshman. Last year beat Nicholas Co. by 34. Lost to Fairview by 7, which lost to LCA by 9, which lost to Hazard by 1. I absolutely so NO team next year in region 3 or 4 they can't compete with exception for possible Hazard. The 3 years after that Hazard shoud be a team the can compete with also.
