    I hope this helps.:thumb:

  2. You must be from the 11th region. He would be at the bottom of my list from region 10. Another one that I wouldn't want to see come through the door is Hudson. I've seen these 2 ref numerous games with different teams involved in the 10th region and just haven't been impressed. I just like to watch good basketball games and don't really have a specific team I root for. I have seen a couple of good refs though but I can't remember their names. I was impressed with a woman I saw from the 16th region.

I've known Jerry Thornsbury for years. He usually does a great job! His son Eric isn't too bad as well. :thumb:

Why do you say this SugarDaddy. I have talked to several coaches in both regions and most have him rated really high..They know what they are going to get from him..A FAIR GAME....Either for or against he blows what he sees and advantage/disadvantage is what the coaches like. That is what he brings to the gym every night. I watched him work several games at the Montgomery Co. Tourney and the Ky Prep classic..I must say I do not know why you would not want him on the games. :confused:He does a solid Job..

Went to watch Scott Co. and Bryan Station and he was on that game..

Cary Lyle was also on that game. Both did a super job. Let the kids play. Let the TALENT shine for both teams. Hardly knew they were there.

Anytime I have seen these two work together, It has been a big game and they let the kids shine.:thumb:

  3. We need to remember these 16th region posters who are down on the officials in the 16th and see how happy they are after regionals. Say what you want but every region calls a little bit different, I think it is going to be awful to play the same way all year and then have to make major adjustments to your playing style when it is do or die.

This is exactly why the 10th & 11th coaches do not like to switch with another region. Several coaches have voiced displeasure in the fact that others call differently

  4. From the 16th region-

NO ONE !!!!!!!!!!I would rather eat glass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    QUOTE]

King, I couldn't agree with you more. I feel the same way about the refs in the 10th & 11th region. Some used to be pretty good or even tolerable. However so many have developed such large chips on their shoulders and ego's that make it difficult for them to listen or communicate with coaches at all. They have elevated themselves to the know-it-all status and how dare anyone question their all-knowing powers! It seems like so many of them enter the gym with a pre-determined judgement on who should win, how quick they are going to snap when a coach would dare question them, and which players are going to get the calls that night. It makes me sick to see certain ones enter the gym. You can already tell what kind of night it is going to be 1 hour before tip-off!

 Maybe you should convince the coaches of the 10th & 11th that the BBA are so egotistical, And the boulders are so big on their shoulders, they can't run the floor and get into position to make the correct calls. They should vote the BBA out of the regions for a change and let the better officials from all the other regions come in here and work. WON'T HAPPEN!!!!!! Coaches all over both regions, 10th & 11th ONLY WANT BBA OFFICIALS for their regional ballgames. Too many coaches say they are the best in the state..:p:lol:

  5. Those are probably the best 3 in the 8th.

Watched Coldiron work in the All "A" and he did a great job.

He worked with Bo Queen and Mike Melton in the Paintsville/UHA Semi Finals

and all three did a good job.

Noticed Queen and Melton already mentioned in this thread. Nice to see 3 officials from other regions come together and do a nice job.:thumb:

  6. From the 16th region-

NO ONE !!!!!!!!!!I would rather eat glass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wish would be to play with refs from any other region than the 16th. I wouldn't even be picky about who they were!

King that is a bit extreme. I have been to some of the schools in the 16th and have seen some preety good officiated games.

Bob Hall , Roy Wright, Bob Kuhns

they all do a good job;)

  7. In your opinion, who is at the top in your area in calling a good basketball game? Show some love to the official that is best in your region and give them there props here.

IMO - in the 8th region there are few good ones, but the best is Coldiron.

I figured this thread would run its course, but thought I would energize it since we are coming in the home stretch of the season.

Went to the All "A" Tourny last week and got to see alot of the games just to see some of the smaller teams from the state.

Saw some great games and some good officiated basketball. Although I am sure alot of the fans from each school will disagree, but was there as a non biased basketball fan with no ties to any school.

As your post stated, Out of the 8th region, Terry Coldiron did a solid job all week. Also thought the young guy out of the 15th, I think his name was Webb, did a solid job. He worked the Finals with Bob Hall out of the 16th, Along with the Barnes guy out of the 1st Region. Thought the Finals was well officiated and did not have any bearing on the outcome of the game. I think this is what basketball should be like.;)

Also the Queen guy out of the 10th and 11th regions did a fine job in both games I saw him work. He worked probably two of the harder games in Gallitin Co./Hazard and the UHA/Paintsville games. I am a fan of the 11th region so I could honestly watch these games and enjoy them. I probably see him more than the other guys, and as I watched the game, saw alot of the same calls made and let go that I usually yell at him for. But from a non biased fan saw that they were RIGHT in these games. I guess I should not yell any more. He did a great job and I felt he represented our 11th region well. He is one of our regions better officials that is assigned alot of the top games.:thumb:

Also the lady that did the finals on Sunday had a very good tournament.

And the O'Hair guy that worked the girls final was solid all week. Thought he made some gutsy calls in finals that the other two passed on.

Lets here from the rest of you guys on the positives and not the negatives of this thread.:thumb:;):D

  8. I have a good one for you all........ See if you know this one.......

Possession arrow points toward Team A.

Team A #1 has possession of the ball when Team B #2 ties him up and the official indicates a "jumpball". After the official's call Team A #1 shoves Team B #2 and is assessed a technical foul for his actions. Ok, Team A is rewarded 2 FT's and a throw-in,

BUT...... Who will have the possession arrow? The jumpball was called before the technical was issued. Will the arrow stay with Team A or be switched to Team B? Why?

Two Technical freethrows for Team A and the ball out of bounds at the division line. The technical occured after the jump ball so overules the jump ball. Arrow stays with team A.

  9. A big test for Montgomery Co. Hopefully the boys come ready tonight. Aaron Morris is a load for Madison Central.

    Thoughts?

This is going to be a fine match up for Montgomery Co. It will be a tough test for them but if Stephens comes to play and Montgomery Co guards step up it could spell doom for Madison Central. But you cannot overlook who is on the sidelines. Coach Feldhouse knows how to adjust and will make a game of it...

Freethrows may decide this one and watching both teams in the past and present have not been good shooting teams from the charity strip.

  10. I am interested to hear how many turnovers SC had. Whatever it was, it was a lot. SC was just lazy with the ball and had trouble getting shots to fall tonight. Mack stepped up and had a huge game, looking like one of the best high school players I had seen in a while. Station was in complete control of the game start to finish.

Scott Co had 21 turnovers that resulted in 28 points for the Defenders.
