The Bluegrass Basketball Association, which services the 10th and 11th Regions, has many deserving individuals who could work the state tournament.
In the many years I have watched 11th region basketball, and compared the state tournament, night in and night out 11th region basketball is as competitive and as good as it gets on a consisitent basis. The play is athletic and above the rim constantly, and I am not sure the other regions officials actually see this type of competition night in and night out.
There are good officials all over this state, BUT some of the officials that make it from some of the other regions it seems just can't call the game as well as the officials from the 10th and the 11th.
I can name Several that deserve to go but I feel naming them I would leave someone off.:thumb:

I was at the game Monday night against Burgin. Thomas retaliated in a fight. Both players were ejected. What's that old saying, "Second guy gets caught."
If they both were ejected how did the "Second guy gets caught" come from.
Looks like both were just stupid..

Maybe we should open a bookstore and sale rule books.:dancingpa

Knew the rules? He jumped in the air like he was shooting, and the ball slipped out of his hands, over his head, and across the halfcourt line, and then he went and pick it up and nothing was called. He either walked or it was an over and back.
Key Words here....like he was SHOOTING:laugh:

Bart Lenox deserves a trip to the Sweet 16.
Bart would be well deserving of the honor.:notworthy:
There are several BBA officials that deserve to go that have been in the top of the rankings for several years. Cary Lyle got a chance last year and I hope to see alot more of those types of guys get their shot.:thumb:

With any region you have some good and not so good. But as a whole I believe that the 10th and 11th is fortunate to have the officials it has.
I'd totally agree. And I think the coaches would agree too. That is why it has been since 1993 since the BBA has left for the regional tournament.:notworthy:
These Guys really are from top to bottom some of the best the state has to offer. Ask some of the other region coaches why they like to come into the 10th and the 11th to play:thumb:

Mason has Setty, Middleton, and Pawsat, GRC has Zollo, Hatton and Stenzel. I believe it will come down to the other role players.
After watching these two teams play several times this year, I feel like bcd00
If GRC can contain Setty and not let him go off for twenty or more, GRC wins this one. But on the other hand Mason must contain Stenzel too.

In watching these guys a few games the past few years, There are four guys that IMO are consistant and do a fine job.
Coldiron, Knollman, Howell, And Sandlin:thumb:

That being said while the 10th and 11th region refs are entertaining Charlie Kirk in the 13th takes it to a whole new level.
Hard to beleive Kirk is still officiating:confused:

Give me Bo Queen, Cary Lyle, and John Chamberlain for me also, especially Bo, I think he is the best ref in the state.
I will take that crew on any game. Throw in Mondo and Bart Lenox too with any of these three. They could do the state tourney by themselves and do a better job than what has been sent there in the past.:ylsuper:
-
You Are right Sportsfan, John did take a leave of absence and he is really missed.:ylsuper:
Based on the last few years and who has worked the finals of the regional Tournament:
Bart Lenox Cary Lyle Bo Queen And yes John Chamberlain if and When he gets back:D

Looks like the from what is being said so far, COLDIRON is a shoe in for the FINALS:banana:

Is the Brossart / Deming Match up the finals of the 10th Region all A?

I thought the referees at the KY Prep Classic was very good this weekend. I am not for sure if they were all BBA refs from the 10/11th regions or not. I did see Bo Queen calling one game and Cary Lisle calling another. Of course the teams involved represented several regions, but I did not hear much complaining about the calls.
I made the trek over to the Arena for the Prep Classic and got to see a great day of basketball.:ylsuper:
The first game between Madison Central and J-Town was called by a crew from the 14th region.
Glenn Napier Dexter Campbell and Brian Cook.
The second game between Elliott Co and Anderson Co. was from the BBA (10th/11th) Region.
Bo Queen Dustin Music and Doug Clay
The third game between South Laurel and Madisonville was called again by a 14th region crew.
Tommy Hutton Brian Cook and Don Hall
And the fourth and final game between Montgomery Co and Manuel was from the BBA.
Cary Lyle Don Werner and Kirk Hudson.
All of these games for the most part were officiated very well.:thumb:

Was Coach Barr on the Paris bench for this game? He missed the Montgomery County game Tuesday night.
Yes Coach Barr was on the bench coaching and instructing as much as he could. Coach Barr is a class act and I hate it that he has to endure the stress and pressures these last few teams have put on him.
I have watched as these kids have the time don't listen and you hear their parents and friends from the stands telling them not to listen to Coach Barr and go out there and do their own thing. It is unfortunate that Coach Barr has not had better talent as of late as we all know he is a fine coach and a GREAT person.:thumb:

Glad I didn't have to say it. :sssh::thumb:
Eta Rho actually I have watched your beloved Holmes twice now..
When they played Bryan Station in Lexington.
And I made the trek up to the new KY Bank Arena Sunday when they absolutely put it on a talented Scott County team.
That is why I put if Ballard hits there shots.
I may be wrong but I would say Renner would have them playing better by now and if they would have hit shots they would have made a game of Scott County.
I will Have to admitt, Your Holmes team looked like a different team than they did in Lexington against Bryan Station.
I just love to see good basketball, So I hope it is a good game and your team does come out on top..:thumb:

Not sure of the match ups but I think the teams involved are:
Holmes
Bryan Station
Tates Creek
Henry Clay
Danville
Lincoln Co
Ballard
Clay Co
Knox Central
Chicago Collins, IL
With one team TBA.
Holmes plays Knox Central, Ballard, and Tates Creek in the order Fri, Sat, and Sun.
Holmes vs Ballard will be a great matchup. Ballard is athletic. If they hit shots this could be a good one.

I for one liked "The Barn" at Montgomery Co.
But there were alot of History at the Mt. Sterling HS and the Old Montgomery Co. HS that eventually became Mapleton Elementary. ALot of good and exciting times there.
Also around the region Augusta is one of a kind and still one of the loudest and rocks when its packed. Literally the upper decks move when filled.
The old Southside Gym in Paris wasn't to shabby either. Especially when Bourbon would come to visit.
