  1. When talking about past officials you've got to mention the following:

Doug Hampton (along with his sons John and Brent)

    Mike Buis

    John Rejunas (sp)

I was just mentioning some of the most recent:cool:

But you are exactly right, The Hamptons ALL had great high school officiating careers as well as Mike Buis and John Radjunas:ylsuper:

These were all accomplished in the craft of officiating and Doug was one of the best game manangers I have seen over the years before Rick Chasteen.:D

  2. Terry Coldiron is very good at his craft!

You are exactly right. Watched Terry work game against Paintsville and UHA in the All A Classic. Very heated and emotional game for players and coaches and he and his crew handled it well..Thought it was one of the best officiated games of the tournament. His crew was Mike Melton out of the

14th Region and Bo Queen out of the 10th/11th Regions. All Three had solid games. :thumb:

  3. Is Bart Lennox still officiating in the 11th. I also think Terry Coldiron, Cary Lyle, Joe Billman and Bobby Hall. I also miss Bob Craft, hope he gets back into it soon.

Big Slick Bart May not be around much longer as I have heard is stock in the collegiate ranks are rising very QUICKLY. I heard he got into a couple of D1 conferences..Someone on here might know more but from watching him the past couple of years I would not be surprised.

  4. With the tip of the basketball season nearing I thought it would be a great discussion on who some of the better officials in the state and each region are. These guys do a thankless job and NEVER get the respect they deserve, especially the really talented officials.

In the 10th region you have to go with: John "J.T." Taylor, Clayton Brooks, Cary Lyle, Bo Queen, Eric Thornsbury, and Gary Wilson @ the top of the list!

TubbyCAT Good assesment of some of the top officials in the region.

I have watched alot of the top games in the area over the past few years and it looks like these guys get most of those games.

Some of the BEST PAST officials that have come through the 10th/11th would have to be Rick Chasteen, John Chamberlain, and Joe Thompson.

These guys officiated every game for the kids no matter who was coaching or what type of game..:thumb:

  5. That's why you also move your fans and students to the visitors side of the gym, like Montgomery Co. did. If you are the visiting team on the scoreboard, your team should sit on the visitors bench, and your fans should sit on the visitors side. This is exactly what Montgomery Co. did in their first round game. :flame:

Great Post El Gato..Been to the fieldhouse for years and NEVER have I seen Mason or fans moved because they were VISITORS. I must commend the Montgomery Co. Staff for doing the right thing and changing benches and sides. Now that is Classy...:thumb::banana::ylsuper:

  6. I don't care where the regional tournament is played, as long as I have a horse in the race , I'll be there . Distance won't matter to me, whether it's played in Northern Ky , Montgomery Co ,Mason Co or Orangeburg. People make a big to-do over nothing. As far as crowds are concerned, there will only be two sessions in the entire tournament where you will have capicity crowds and that will be Clark-Mason and the final game. Agree.

    Good Post Agree!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumb:

  7. 16th Region was not very good last night in the 9th Region.

I'm not a fan of switching regions. I think this is dumb idea. We can all agree that different regions officiate differently and have somewhat different styles. Now the officials have to try and adapt quickly to the way the region plays the game and the teams can hardly adapt quickly to how the officials from another region officiate the game.

Not to mention. It must great for the 16th Region refs to drive up to NKY. I bet they like that after a long work day.

And not to mention gas pushing 3.25 gallon and I was told by one official they receive less money for the regions and only one official gets reimbursed for .30 a mile...:madman:

  8. Well said.

Still wondering about other regions though other than the 6,7,9 & 16. What about the others....anyone know about them?

The Bluegrass covers both the 10th and the 11th and they are staying.

the 14th is doing the 13th and the 15th is doing the 14th and the 13th is doing the 15th..

Next year I have been told the 12-16th is doing a 5 way swap not sure who is going where..

The Bluegrass I have been told by several coaches will never leave, if they have anything to do with it. They feel they have the best and get the best every year. They do not feel they would get the same quality of game they get all through the season..:thumb:

  9. Congratulations to the following former players, coaches and contributors on being elected to the 10th Region Class of 2008 Hall of Fame.

    CONTRIBUTORS

    Jim Swinford (Harrison County)

    Kenny Haggard (Mason County)

    Great to see this list..::D

Especially Coach Allison and Jim Swinford:thumb:

  10. Scott county was 29 for 29 from the free throw line with a minute left in ot and missed their first 2. They ended up shooting 29 of 31 and MC shot around 16 for 30 something.

It seem this has been a problem for central in the past few years..Freethrows

are such an important part of a basketball game, it doesn't look like kids practice them as often on their own as they use to.

  11. When Clark County played Lafayette the officiating was awful. Not just not calling fouls but very inconcistent. The players could touch someone and get a whistle then on the next series someone get wiped out and get a no call. It is hard to play when they do not establish the way the game is going to be called early. Unsure who the 3 were. They should NOT be on the Good List. There effort and ability should reflect in their pay. Im sure anyone at that game would agree.

Good, Most fans don't know a good game when they see it called. Those two coaches in that game probably would know more than anybody. I have been at games when the crowd goes nuts over a call and the coaches don't say a word because they know the rules more than the fans do. Most officials, I have been told by many of them, look at advantage and disadvantage.Sometimes there may be something happen totally outrageous, but no one gained an advantage and a no call was the end result. I myself have complained at times but after talking to some of my official friends have gained a new insight on what they are looking for.

  12. I, for one, would attend the regional finals in Mason County just because it was close to my home. I would not drive out of town for the finals, because honestly it doesn't interest me that much to go if a team that interests me isn't participating. With that said, I will not travel to Mont Co. for the finals. I would guess a lot of people I know will not travel either. Most of my friends only went because it was something to do in Maysville. I can only wonder how many other people around the Maysville area only attended because it was something to do and will not attend the finals if they have to drive to Mont. Co?? Seating capacity may not be an issue. Let Mont. Co. host the tournament and see what happens.

    :ylsuper:

Don't you think there is alot of people in Clark and Montgomery that don't attend in Maysville but will now attend at Montgomery Co.

The Faithful 10th Region Fans will still attend, But there will Some like you that will not because of the move..But I almost bet there will be several in this area as well as some in Owingsville and Menifee that will go to see a UK signee play in the MCHS ;):thumb:
