  1. Chad is a great receiver and the problems with the Bengals don't stem from the offensive skill positions. They need a massive overhaul on the defensive side of the football and they need to upgrade the offensive line. If trading Chad helps you do that, I am for it. Otherwise, Chad is still a top receiver in this league and an important cog in making this offense expolsive again.

  2. Kobe gets my vote the day he becomes a team player. Until then, he's not even in consideration.

There are seriously like 20 players that you could have picked to make this arguement with. Why did you choose Chris Paul?

    Duncan

    LeBron

    Wade

    Kidd

    Nash

    Nowitski

    KG

    Amare

    Howard

    Boozer

    Yao

    Baron Davis

    Ray Allen

    Gil Arenas

    Caron Butler

    Tony Parker

    Deron Williams

    Allen Iverson

    Rip Hamilton

    Chauncey Billups

    Elton Brand...

You get my point. And Kobe is BETTER than all of these guys. How many assists does he have to average to be a team player? Is he being selfish when he takes the team on his back the last two seasons and carries them into the playoffs? Was he being selfish when he hit all of those game winners to help his team to victory? What about the big games he has had in the playoffs, he sure was selfish when he defended every teams best wing player and shut them down.

You can tell I really think the selfish thing is overplayed, but even if I give you that, are you telling me there is anything Chris Paul does that Kobe can't do? Physically, Kobe is better. Mentally, Kobe has shown his toughness. He lays it on the line everynight just like Paul does, only with better results. Hence, Kobe is better (the BEST wing player EVER!!!)

  3. I personally take Mauk for my college system because I would run the spread in college.

I don't think there is an NFL GM in the league that has Mauk ahead of Woodson as a pro prospect. Mauk's size compared to Woodson, plus Mauk's history of injury play a big role in this.

  4. Kobe - 12th year in the NBA, 1996-1997 All Rookie Second Team

Paul - 3rd year in the NBA, 2005-06 NBA Rookie of the Year

Are you honestly trying to make the arguement that Chris Paul is better than Kobe Bryant? I'm not sure what your point is, but all Kobe has done is win in this league and Paul has yet to make the playoffs, so lets be real.

Paul, nice player, even better story.

Kobe packs it in tomorrow, he goes to the Hall of Fame.

This isn't even close, sorry HHSDad

  5. 2007/8 stats

    FG%

    Kobe Bryant 44.6%

    Chris Paul 49.3%

    3 PT %

    Kobe Bryant 32.9%

    Chris Paul 39.8%

    FT%

    Kobe Bryant 85.2%

    Chris Paul 91.4%

    Rebounds

    Kobe Bryant 176

    Chris Paul 100

    Assists

    Kobe Bryant 138

    Chris Paul 259

    Turnovers

    Kobe Bryant 91

    Chris Paul 74

    Steals

    Kobe Bryant 56

    Chris Paul 76

    Blocks

    Kobe Bryant 16

    Chris Paul 1

    Personal Fouls

    Kobe Bryant 65

    Chris Paul 56

    Points

    Kobe Bryant 761

    Chris Paul 563

I'll go against the mob and say that Chris Paul is the more reliable "team" player of the two. And yes, I realize that Kobe is a SG and Paul is a PG.

Okay, but you forgot one important stat...Kobe 3 rings and Paul zero.

Kobe, in my opinion, is the best backcourt player ever. I know it sounds crazy to say a guy is better than Michael Jordan, but I think he is. There is nothing that can be done on the court that Kobe can't do.

  6. Whats your thoughts and predictions for the fight card?

    MAIN CARD

Matt Hughes vs. Georges St. Pierre (for interim welterweight title)

    Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva

Lyoto Machida vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou

    Rich Clementi vs. Melvin Guillard

    Soa Palalei vs. Eddie Sanchez

    UNDERCARD

    Luis Cane vs. James Irvin

    Manny Gamburyan vs. Nate Mohr

    Dean Lister vs. Jordan Radev

    Roan Carneiro vs. Tony DeSouza

    Mark Bocek vs. Doug Evans

I think Hughes wins the rubber match. Matt hughes has to be, pound for pound, the strongest man on the planet. Just has unbelieveable raw strength to go with his fighting ability.

I can't figure out Liddell! My head says he pounds Silva, but something tells me the "Axe Murderer" won't lose this thing.

Looking forward to see Gamburyan back from injury, he will be a treat to watch in the 155 division.

  7. Maybe ...

Whaddya bet nobody outside of central Penn and College Station, Texas, will watch the Alamo Bowl now? Execs at The Worldwide Leader have to be tearing their hair out.

ABC let the NFL know how important their product was to them when they let MNF go to cable (ESPN). This might be, in part, a way to stick it to them.

    Who knows? :jump:

  8. To me, in the west, Trigg Co is an underrated program. They've had some outstanding teams the past 5-6 years, but, had to get thru Owens Cath when they had some really good teams and Ft Campbell, when they had some really good teams. Caldwell Co had a team or 2 in there as well that was solid.

Mayfield is another program that has 7 championships, but, had the unfortunate task of having to face off with Danville in the late 80s and early 90s, when they had excellent teams. The Cardinals could easily have 10-11 rings otherwise.

Marshall Co is another program from the west that has really taken great strides in the past 5 or so years. They have had some very quality teams but have had the dubious task of having to compete with a St X or Male in the 3rd round so alot of folks don't know alot about them, but, I'd consider them underrated.

There are a lot of good western Kentucky programs. The get less publicity, but teams like Mayfield, Bowling Green, Tilghman are well respected. Good, solid footbal being played out west.

  9. Im not gonna make many friends with this comment but if your not getting Brohm... look for a QB next year.

I don't know...I think you can get a quality signal caller in this draft. It just depends on systems and development within the system. I like Brennan, Woodson and Ryan. I'm not sold on Flaco, but he could be big time with time.

I'm not even sure that we lok back on this draft and say Brohm was the best QB when it is all said and done.

QB is a crapshoot, as a wise BGP poster onse said. ;)

  10. I'm with you that the SEC speed is much closer to the NFL. I'm also not knocking Woodson or what he can do just pointing out to those that don't know much about Falco that he is a nice QB prospect that didn't get the pub the other QB's got this year.

It's such a crapshoot when you draft a QB that I would wait until later in the draft unless you think you have a Peyton Manning pick.

    Amen on that!

I took no offense, I am a UK fan but I recognoize the flaws in Woodson's game. I was just trying to compare the two. I think Woodson is the better prospect.

It is a crap shoot though. Even Peyton wasn't thought to be a sure thing (incidently, thank God some GM didn't take Leaf first; that guy would go down as the worst GM ever!).

  11. I don't want to freeze out the Trinity, St. X and Highlands fans because I am a huge fan of all of those programs and everyone that follows high school football nationally recognizes these programs as the best in the state, no questions asked.

I do want to know, however, what are some of the programs that don't get the attention, but are solid programs throughout the state? I tend to think of the little guys when I think of underrated. Russell probably is the most underrated, in my opinion. All the Red Devils do is win. They are very solid and are probably the best program in the eastern part of the state.

Who else is out there? Who you got?

  12. I think he is the guy in college that hasn't gotten the pub of say Brohm, Woodson, Brennan and Ryan. He has GREAT size and a BIG TIME arm. I don't know who will be the best (nobody knows ala Brady, Anderson etc) but I think he's the best that hasn't gotten the pub the others have gotten. He has all the tools to be successful.

I've seen Flaco and I would say he has talent, but I don't know that his arm or size is better than Woodson's. The level of talent he played against with success is not the same as the SEC. Also, Flaco didn't beat out Tyler Plako when he was at Pitt, which is why he ended up at Delaware. I think that may say something as well.

Again, I'm no NFL GM, I just think Woodson is a better prospect.

  13. Those 5 teams ranked on here.

    Cincy St X

    Colerain

No clue for the next 3. All the KY guys seem so equal.

I echo this sentiment across the board for a lot of these high school football teams. Miami Northwestern was a great team (I saw the Miami Northwestern/ Southlake Carroll game in person. Both great teams! Southlake doesn't get out of the region in Texas this year). I think there are a bunch of great teams and I'm not sure these rankings reflect an accuarate picture of who is the best team in the country.

  14. I know there was a thread on here before but I want to know who the strongest kids are in the weight room returning next fall for their respective teams.

I am guessing that Ollie Head, Travis Alford, Josh Conner, Austin Collinsworth for Highlands are pretty strong. Anybody benching over 300 and squatting 450+?

Hey qryche, is it okay if I add to your thread by asking folks to post power clean numbers if they have them?

  15. wins; UL,NS,AK,TMP,SC,ARK,MST,V loss:AL,FL,GEO,TN 8 & 4

I want to agree with you. I hope we get eight wins next season, but the team is getting a huge makeover. If we get quality quaterbak play to accompany our returning skills talent, seven or eight wins seems like a good prediction.

  16. Many different number one teams, depending on which list you look at. I was just trying to get some opinions from folks.

I had the pleasure of attedning both Texas 5A state title games this year and I hae to say Euless Trinity was the best team I have seen this year. Dominant on both lines of scrimmage and great speed in the backfield.

I know some folks are closer to the Ohio and Tennesse schools then I am. Even Trinity, X and Highlands may get some consideration. Just curious.
