Game is definitely on. Everyone needs to quit listening to Tony Cavilier and play. The weather channel and accuweather are both forcasting around 1 inch of snow over night.

Ballbrain, as shupupandplay stated it's tough to compare Fairview and Rose Hill to Ashland and Boyd due to student numbers. I'm not sure at Boyd but the problem seems deeper at Ashland than just the senior class. I'm not 100% sure but is Skaggs the only junior? Plus last year we only had two seniors. For whatever reason nobody seems to play 4 years. Maybe it is more of a product of this generation.:idunno:

lbbc, you seem to have at least a pedestrian knowledge of Bigg's time at Pendleton. Did he have a problem with kids leaving the program during his tenure in Pendleton?

Trublu, I agree about not giving up on this year. My point is that the future doesn't appear all that bright to me. If, and that is a big if, we continue to loss players that could contribute in their senior year, or if we see another coaching change, then we could see repeats of this season. Granted this season isn't over and if it were to end today it wouldn't be a total loss but I have a higher expectation than what I am seeing.

TOPCAT, it sounds like they had earned playing time. I think it is unfair to lump everyone in with a "kids today" comment. I don't see kids quitting at Fairview or Rose Hill. Are their kids different?

In most cases I would agree but I don't think anyone is in Elliott's league.

To some extent I agree with you but sometimes you can be too hardcore for your own good. I offer you the example of Ron Reed. Brilliant basketball mind but he has a difficult time relating to kids. I'm old school myself but I also understand that good or bad times have changed.

If you read back through this thread I have never blamed Coach Biggs. As I stated I think he is a good basketball coach. I'm not looking to blame anyone but for whatever reason nobody wants to admit that a once proud program is on the cusp of really slipping. It will get more and more difficult to compete if we continue to have senior classes of 1 or 2 players. Take this year as an example, Ashland could have in addition to it's current roster, Bowling, Adams, and Rowe. Plus Hunter decided not to play. Add those guys to the mix and I think Ashland could compete with everyone outside of Elliott. :idunno:

Marooncat, everything you have stated is 100% correct but I can tell you that in a of those cases they couldn't wait to leave because of the situation that shutupandplay refered to. Just so I understand what do you mean by "all of this"?

Well when your crowing about a 1 point loss to Russell that should tell you something. Seriously ballbrain does it not concern you that Ashland doesn't seem to graduate many basketball players? My concern is that we had a losing record last year, have lost 4 in a row to Rose Hill, and quite honestly I don't see us stocked with talent in the middle school, freshman, or sophomore classes. Since you and Coach Biggs seem to be on a first name basis maybe you could suggest that he get more involved in the feeder system. For the record I think Biggs is a good basketball coach but something is up when player after player leave the program.
