  1. If this is in the wrong place, please move it for me!

Middle School AAU open tryouts on Feb 16th at Eastern Brown(OH) Jr High at 12pm.

There will be a $10 registration fee. Any other questions please contact Lennie Payne(513-236-0267) or Greg Himes(606-584-2552)

You will find that most good KY middle school players are already on AAU teams as they can play school ball and AAU at the same time.

  2. WHo will be at BCI in FLorence this weekend? Johnson County will have a 2nd, 4th, and 6th grade team there.

I know a lot of teams will be in the Mason County tourney this weekend.

7th - Mason, Fleming, Nicholas, East Carter, Wolfpack, Bracken

4th - 9 teams total - Bracken, Fleming, Omega All-Stars, not sure of others

  3. I here the MAGIC won the 6th grade tournament at BCI this weekend by defeating D1 GREYHOUNDS. Any word on who won the 7th and 8th?

Check the AAU thread. By the way, I did see the Magic play. They had a kid that was over six foot and over 200 lbs. Now that is a big 6th grader

  4. 13U Wolfpack lost two close games yesterday against the 8th grade Tar Heels (3 points) and 8th grade Mason County (10 points). It was some of the best ball the Wolfpack has played this year. They were also missing two starters. Once this team gets some practices (now that school ball is almost over), this team will be a force to be reckoned with.

  5. The KBA is looking at hosting an AAU tournament the weekend of Feb. 23rd. But it is not final yet. As far as there being AAU teams in the 7th grade middle school state tournament, no.

Out on the KBA website, there are 2 new AAU "State Preview" tourneys listed. Feb 22-24 for 8U-12U and March 28-30 for 13U-17U.

  6. Gray 7th grade defeated Connor 50 to 40. Gray jumped out to an early 9-2 lead that Conner was able to close to 28-22 at half. Start of the second saw Gray extend their lead to 33-22. However Conner made their usual run to make it a 6 point game late. Gray's free throw shooting down the stretch iced the game. Conner played well despite missing Blake Maines for the game. Gray was lead by Drew Mays with 24 and Travis Pavy with 12.

I have seen Mays play with the Wolfpack. He can shoot the lights out. Very good win for Gray.

  7. Any BCI results this weekend in 13U? I really wish our NKY Warriors would have entered this tournament with teh Tar Heels/Wolfpack/Firehawks/Fleming Co, etc Our games up at Sportsplus just keep getting more ridiculous each week. Basically half the teams are decent 6th grade teams playing up in our division. Cant wait for the season to be over to be honest so they can start playing better competition. Next week they do have the Tar Heels at home. However, I know the Tar Heels play a bunch of tourneys and miss some of their league games up there so hopefully they will be able to make this game next Sunday.

With no Tar Heels in the tourney, the Firehawks and Wolfpack played twice at BCI. Wolfpack won both but the championship was only 10 points. These two teams also played twice at Mt Zion (4 times in one weekend is just way too much). Wolfpack won both of these also. The finals was not real close as the Firehawks had just finished an amazing comeback against the Old Spice Red Zone.

On a side note, Christian McClendon played with the Wolfpack at BCI. His athleticism is amazing. He will be a great addition to this already strong team.

Now that the Mt Zion league is over, I am looking forward to seeing how the Wolfpack will do against the Ville, Thunder, Warriors and the other strong U13 teams.

  8. The TRMS Titans beat the CC Purples this past weekend in the NKMSBL. This team has a lot of talented kids and the coaches play all 20 each game. It will be very interesting to see what kind of run the 7th grade team makes. They are looking forward to playing the BIRDS at Holmes. It is amazing how the officiating crew is hired for the HMS home games. The crew becomes more pathetic each year. The more NKMSBL Games I attend, the more one hears about how the refs took over the game and did not allow the kids to play, let alone call the game evenly.

I agree with you on the officiating especially at the Titans/CC game. Clyde was in rare form and clearly favored the Titans (especially giving McGovney his fifth foul with 0.8 seconds to go and up one point). The purples did well to only lose by two in OT without him on the court.

  9. Looks like the Wolfpack and Firehawks will play twice on Saturday.

Does anyone know if their morning game has a time change?

As far as I know, the game is still on for 9:30 am at Mt Zion.

  10. I heard the same thing and know the kid they are speaking about. He was held back for academic reasons. However, I heard that Boone County representatives didn't like the situation.

I thought that was a fable and not the real story???

I know some parents from Boone schools and they claim that is the exact reason why things are split.

  11. From what I understand (and this is strictly hearsay), the Boone schools weren't real happy with how one of the Kenton schools handled 1 of their players. Apparently, he was held back for no educational reasons, only athletic. That's what severed ties between the Boone/Kenton schools. Those 2 counties played each other for as long as I can remember (before I played, which was quite a while ago). Again, this is only hearsay, I'm not real close to the situation!

I have heard a similar rumor. The schools were very upset at a particular kid playing 4 years of Middle School ball.

  12. Highlands plays Campb. Co Gold next Tuesday at home. I can tell you all right now this one will be intense for the Birds. Gold can expect to get pressed into oblivion and I would expect a nice crowd.

If I remember, isn't there a history here? Otherwise, given the Gold's recent performance, there is no reason to "press them into oblivion."
