  1. So what does Walton have returning for the 2019 football season, and which positions are they going to be looking to have upcoming players fill?

Looking to fill Qb position and some spots on the O-line. Talented group and seems to be working hard. Maybe a surprise group that is better than some thought they would be.

  2. Out of district schedule is upgraded. After both Lloyd & Walton swept the Jessamine Co Bowl over the last two years, they play in the opener. +

Continued series with Covington Holy Cross & Walton is 2-3 vs the Indians in their last 5 meetings. Holy Cross will be improved. =

North Laurel struggled a little last year, but finished 9-3 in 2017 & 7-5 in 2016 as a 5A school known for physicalty. This replaces Holmes after the Bearcats dominated the series. +

Newport Central Catholic, enough said. Perennial state power & one of the more respected programs in the area and state. This replaces LCA, who Walton never got much credit for playing over the last 6 years, but a very high level program. Neutral in strength gain. =

Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy (CHCA). Ohio playoff team, which actually means something in that state. Will be a major test for Walton, but a great "get" on the schedule. This replaced the one year deal with Paintsville who came to town after Trimble cancelled their season. Certainly an upgrade to the schedule for the next 2 years. +

Louisville Holy Cross replaces Bellevue, which is also an upgrade. +

There will always be those who doubt and cast jabs. The Bearcats scheduled well over the years and built a very reputable program in a short time. Keep building!!!

    This!

  3. I hung out with a Walton-Verona super fan last night.

He wore me out the whole night with Walton this, Walton that, the heart of this team, we beat Glasgow, we are going to beat Mayfield, and on and on and on...

I think I lectured "The Wolfe Man" and his posse for 10 minutes on the history of Mayfield football and why getting stomped on this week is nothing to be ashamed of.

I do think I scored some points with the Beechwood angle, I had them eating out of my hand until I told them Beechwood has never beaten Mayfield.

Back to Mayfield and Walton-Verona, I am ecstatic to see Walton make it this far but get out the round balls Bearcats, the party is over.

I am glad we actually have some super fans! Hopefully more super fans in our future and we become more than a basketball school.

  4. What time is the game being played?

7 'o clock start time. It's kind of fun seeing Walton up in the main talked about thread in the state semi finals. Who would have ever have dreamed this in the beginning which was not long ago. From the days of practicing in the city park because they did not have a field to practice on, playing on Saturday because they had no lights and having no weights for the players to lift, I'd have say I am proud to be a Bearcat! They have nothing to lose at all and everything to gain.

  5. I am looking forward to watching this one Friday Night. Carroll’s defense has played really well all year. David Duncan is lethal as a returner and Wide Receiver. Andre Mumphrey is fun to watch at QB but still developing his passing skill and is getting better each week. The real struggle that has gotten better week to week has been stopping the run. They had a hard time stopping Ludlow in Week 0 and then held a prodominantly run heavy team like Walton to 13 points. Looking forward to their first home playoff game in a while.

I think Carroll's offense is the deciding factor in this one and they roll.

  6. Metcalfe is a very young team. The Hornets have blown, I believe, four second half leads this season. They have a bright future ahead of them but I wouldn’t expect this one to be very close (hope I’m wrong). I’ll be making the long drive up there for this one. If anyone else will be in attendance I’d like to meet some of the folks on here. Hopefully it won’t be too wet.

Have a safe drive up and I hope it is a good game as well!

  7. Carroll County was a good win for WV. Carroll is definitely much improved and on the rise. WV also had four two way starters out and played in extremely wet conditions. All that being said they pitched a shut out and did enough on O to win. With players back they should be ready for a playoff run!

  8. The defense for UK played well all night. They got too comfortable with offensive play calling, which could cost them in games going forward depending on who they play.

Yes it seems to be a philosophy in play calling with them that once they have the lead they play not to lose instead of attacking.

  9. The Bearcats (3-0) just keep on winning. They pitched their second shutout in three games with a commanding 48-0 win over Holmes. Holy Cross (0-3) on the other hand, has dropped 15 games in a row, dating back to 2016. They've been outscored 121-6 so far this season. WV won this game 56-0 last year, and another trip to the woodshed might be forthcoming.

    Agree, WV heavy favorite.
