Some bold predictions coming from HC supporters........Heard it all more than couple times the last few weeks.
Will this week be the week...............?
Teams from Northern Kentucky are usually pretty solid, even on off years.
Good Luck, should be a good game, and I don't think you'll be sitting your starter in the 2nd half.
-
I think it goes on strength of schedule and margin of victory.
I think it is mostly margin of victory......and they wonder why I won't buy their paper.
They should take these ratings out of the sports section and let them headline the funnies.

Royals win.......:thumb:

If Belfry beats JC,Russell might as well not even get on the bus. LOL
From what I have heard, Belfry has the big bodies on the line the compete with JC. Belfy stands a very good chance to win.
Russell will be fine.
Off the subject:
I'm a little surprise and impressed in their ( Russell ) effort to mix it up on offense. Better things will come of that. Keep it it up.
Being a dimensional team only works if you have the big bodies to do it every year. And with today's complex defenses.........Thats not a good position to be in.
I applaud your effort in trying to work this out during the season and not just because your back is against a wall in a playoff game. Good job by the coaching staff to "for see" the situation.
-
Haven't seen JC since they "clocked" Mason Co. a couple of years ago in the playoffs.........They still do a lot of smash-mouth/mis-direction on offense ?
It was extremely hard for the Royals to deal with, especially on our typically muddy playing field.
Although, I don't think the field conditions had any baring on the outcome.
JC was the obvious better team.

Royals have a pretty good team
I mentioned before the started and even after the Ashland scrimmage ( which was ugly ) that this team had the potential to be better than the 2007 Royals.
Maybe a lot of wishful thinking,.......and not many posters agreed.
But dreams DO come true !
They have improved each week.
Great job Royals ! :thumb:
-
Well, I'm interested..........Is this the only common opponent for Belfry and Mason Co. ?
Anyone out there that attended or listened to this game ?

Back off Henry Co. All four district teams are solid this year. If you go to Cal Preps you will see this is the #1 rated district in the state in 3A. I understand that some people are bashing them because some of their Bluegrass posters were a little boastful. They are a very solid team and all 4 teams in the district should rank in the top 15 in the state.
Cal preps!!!?
Yeah I guess they know what the are talking about.........

The key being that the trip to the regional final last year didn't include games across the region. They beat Western Hills (1-9) and North Oldham (7-3) (rather than, say, Louisville Central and Elizabethtown) to get to that regional final where they were promptly ushered out by Paducah Tilghman.
I'm not saying they are a bad team, I'm just saying that a few weeks ago they were 5-0 with the #1 defense in the state. I questioned that perhaps those stats were gained against weaker competition and shouldn't be used to determine the overall ability of this team. People wore me out. Now that their schedule has picked up somewhat, they have proven themselves to be pretenders to the 3A Top 10.
I got smashed on here as well......:creepy:
But at least our assumptions were correct. :thumb:

I am so proud and excited of the development each week throughout the course of this season........Says alot about the heart and work ethic of those kids and the coaching staff.
Great job and keep improving. More and more people are finally starting to believe what those close to the program knew all along, that you guys are a special team.
Its been a steady climb, but the job isn't done. Enjoy this and get back on the field next week and learn a little more. :thumb:

Theres some bulletin board material for ya. I'm thinking Thompson would compete for a spot at RB.
:ylsuper:

I hear Bailey is going to try and play. If he can' date=' I think Mason will have a tough time stopping Russell. I don't think Mason can get in the backfield like Ashland did and disrupt the Devils offense.[/quote']
Same/Same.......Russell won't disrupt Mason Co. in the backfield the way Ashland did early in the year.
:jump:
-
Not as close as people think. Russell comes out strong.
Wow !......:rolleyes:I think I remember seeing a few of the same comments and under estimating from the Russell fan base going into the Ashland game as well.
Good luck tomorrow night, should be fun to watch !
-
So how much has Mason improved since the Ashland scrimmage? If they haven't improved drastically this should not be a very close game. Both of Russell's losses came to teams with twice the depth of Russell and to two teams who would win the 3A state championship.
I didn't see a kid on MC's team who I thought would start anywhere on Russell's team.
This week, take a second look at the Royals QB. :flame:
New O-Line this year for Mason Co. and I have been told the Ashland scrimmage was hard to watch.
They have improved over the year. The Royals were able to move the ball and score against a very good 6A team ( Boone Co. ) and then hung in there with 6A Campbell Co.
Bottom line is I think this years Mason Co. at this point is finally better than last years offensively. This is a young team and it may take another year or two to beef up the defense.
-
Mason Co dosn't believe in home field ( court) advantage....
I do... I believe that Russell will win this one, but I hope that Mason Co can pull this one out.:thumb:
We do get a little bothered when traveling east of " Royal Nation.":sssh:
-
Russell has the all important home advantage... Royals by 3!
Thats right, with the shortened field..... no back of the end zone passes for the Royals this week !
Just joking, that drums been beat to to death..........
-
Teams have run up the middle on Mason all year. If Russell can run between the tackles, they'll win.
The teams that have done that, have had a pretty decent size advantage over the Royals. ( individually and overall team numbers).
-
How about giving credit to WH and NO? Those are solid teams.
Thats find and all, but many have applauded the lope sided wins and have begun to claim Henry Co. as a top 3A team for those reasons.....
Others strongly disagree ( myself included ).
-
Royals win 36-20
:flame:
-
Upset special, Bourbon Co. 21 Mason Co. 14
:scared:
Nope......Royals win 35-06.
I don't see anything from Bourbon County's schedule (results) that would give any indication otherwise.
Royals may have a little rust coming off a by-week. But will be a quicker than usual.

If this were truly the case how did Henry even manage a comeback? If schedule really dictates how you will react then this game should have been a huge blowout.
Seriously missing the point I am trying to make.......This game will be a good learning tool for Henry Co.
If you wait for competition later in the season then you don't have a second chance to correct any flaws your team may have. Because your season will be over.
Never said anything about it being a blowout .......? They came back. Thats a good thing. Maybe Henry Co. learns enough ( about themselves ) to get them over the hump and win the next tough game they are involved in.
-

Well, then this game will help. You don't know how a team is going to react when its not so easy to stop the other team. Aren't you glad this game is out of the way now ? Because at least now you can see where your teams flaws may be and you can make improvements.
If this was a playoff game, your season would be over.

Horse pucky! Schedules didn't influence either team, and the tough part of Hill's schedule has yet to come. Last I checked practice and execution is what makes the difference in playing your best. Hills has always played a very tough schedule...their district used to be one of the toughest with Lex Cath, Harrison, Franklin, East Jes (when they were very good)...etc. Those schedules didn't make the difference in how those teams played.
Yes it does........Just ask any Highlands team or Lou. Central who walked away with the 3A title last year.
You push your team as much as you can during the regular season, so its not a big surprise to struggle slightly during a game when you reach another good team later in the playoffs.
Its just better to learn how to handle and overcome the situation during the regular season.

:thumb:Dead-on! It's been fun to play with PA hater's who take it all waayyy too seriously. As I mentioned before, was it really the PA guy you hated hearing, or the Defense that couldn't shut the PA guy up :jump:
No......Really it was just annoying. And I try to as unbiased as possible.
