How has the Bank done so far?
casual observer replied to Xs and Os's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
$7.00 for a BBQ and $3.00 for a coke is too much for College or High School. The servers know they are selling products that they cant afford either. The attendence of students is not just down at BOK, but the regional games had fewer students. -
If Cooper hits 50% of their missed layups and free throws, they win. Waltons' guards where to busy shooting and profiling to stop Coopers' drives to the basket.

How can this be the same Grant cnty. team that beat Gallatin cnty? -
Seven 7 points in the half for McGraw. He missed 3 layups and several shots.Maybe the Ryle players just play better defense than Holmes. Are we sure the coach took him out for health reasons or was it frustration?

I haven't seen Kendall in the box scores the past couple of games. Is he sick or injured? -
GRC vs Dixie Heights

GRC is too fast for Dixie to set up Mace.GRC by 12. -

I thought the hardwood was flat.Being from Boone county I guess we shouldn't be in this thread. This kind of regionalism hurts us all and promotes the us against them attitude.Come up "north" and we will breakout the Elvis TV trays and talk about our two state champs Corinth and Simon Kenton.Maybe you can help us come up with a regional nickname. -

I'm begining to feel sorry for Chris Bondick and the pressure he will be under when he returns. If Highlands can beat Boone without Simpson, why are the excuses that Bondick makes that much diffference? He is a good player but all of this convoluted logic would have him 100% on each night. -

My understanding is that Porter said "Terrible call " as he walked away from the original charging foul. No cussing, but a comment that on any other night might have been a warning at best. -

Alex Hall can definitely play at the D3 level. He set the national AAU record for 3s in a game this summer. -

Ryle 48 St. Henry 46 (OT)

Congrats to Mullins and his Raiders on a tough and poorly officiated overtime win at St. Henry last night. Raiders have struggled but I predict good things if they can keep their moral up. Sophomores looking good but don't understand why the coach takes his starters out of the game so early, would like to see them work through their rough spots and pull it together. Maley has become a more mature player and is better focued than in previous years. #21 is a silent valuable asset to the team, they seem to play better when the coach leaves him in there. While not a showy player, his defense is very effective and he makes good players look even better,a great and rare asset for a team. Good Luck to a team who is working hard to find their way. -
Maley is going for the Ryle team record for Technical Fouls. He has been a spoiled, pampered player for his entire Ryle career. You can count on him to retaliate if he is fouled, even by accident.I still have not heard that he has appologized to the team. All of his previous coaches at Ryle have been aware of this.As he is a senior I suppose they feel his play justifies his faults.

Best Defender in the State
casual observer replied to fieldhousekrayzie21's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I have watched the Porter kid from Ryle for the past three years and believe he is the most versatile defender in northern Ky.He held Hill from Holmes to 3 pts. and defended Vories to 6 or 7.I have seen him stop guards and forwards and even postup a center or two. -
Ryle 57 Glen Este 36
casual observer replied to The Great Game's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Good to see Ryle drop some threes, but lets not get carried away with the youth movement. If my info. is correct Coleman was 2 for 20+ from 3 pt. range prior to Glen Este.Helmer had a bad night scoring but has been the most consistent scorer so far this year. The shophs. will get plenty of playing time this year, but will need to be as unselfish as the older guys to keep the chemistry they have had the last few games.
