Cards down by 7 going into the 4th quarter. They really turned it on during the last period. Charlie Rogers with a big night for GRC. Timmons for Franklin with a big night. Cards playing from behind is not a successful plan for the tournys.

Nice comeback but they can't keep starting in a hole and expect to win. The plus is they don't panic when playing from behind because they have that experience.

They stay calm and focused to keep chipping away and never give up. Charlie Rogers has really turned his game up a couple of notches and that is going to be another huge plus as the Cards start the post-season next week.

Clark played a great 4th quarter. They need to play that way for 4 quarters. I saw some life in that last quarter and thats encouraging.

Clark (24-5) trailed by 13 points at one point in the third quarter, but outscored the Flyers 24-8 in the final eight minutes, capping a successful comeback in the Capital City.

“We won with heart and toughness,” Clark coach Scott Humphrey said. “We had their hands tied a little bit on the offensive end. We wanted them to fight through it. I thought the last game we were too quick with our shot selection. They needed to trust each other and keep moving that ball around until we got it to a shot that we wanted (on offense). I thought we had great shots all night. At times they weren’t falling, but we trusted each other and when you have that on a team, it can help you win some games in the postseason.”

The Cards (24-5) were paced in scoring by senior forward Charlie Rogers with 20 points. Rogers scored five of Clark’s first seven points and had 15 in the second half. A three-point play underneath by the senior forward with less than five minutes remaining gave the Cards the lead for good. The basket by Rogers was the 11th and final lead change of the contest.

Rogers and teammate Adam Fatkin combined and scored 19 points in the fourth quarter. Fatkin followed Rogers in the scoring column with 18 points.

“That’s where the ball needs to go when you’re playing teams that are playing you man and they’re undersized,” Humphrey said. “They can’t handle those two in there. We had great recognition all night of where the ball needs to go.”

Bopper Stenzel rounded out three Clark players in double figures with 14 points. Stenzel tallied nine of those during the first two quarters.

“I thought Bopper was tremendous,” Humphrey said. “He really ran the team great. We need his scoring, but we also need him to run the team.”

Next game: 7:30 p.m., Thursday, vs. Henry Clay at Norton Gymnasium.

Sorry I missed this game. Thanks to thoes that sent me texts. From what I have heard Fatkin and Rogers had very good games. Agree that we need 4 quarters like the 4th. Don't what it is about this team, but the 4th Q has always been thier best and several games have come back to win.

Cograts to GRC on the win. Franklin County has had a brutal schedule this year. Two FC starters did not play Hamilton, and Woodside as they were in street clothes on the bench. I really thought FC should have won this game but I guess the starters ran out of gas. GRC made there comeback when FC had their JV team in 4th quarter. Once GRC got the lead and FC's starters reentered the game FC did not make their shots nor did it appear they had enough juice left to comback and win.

It was good to see you and get to talk to you Tuesday night. Good luck in the tournament and I'll be keeping up with Transy as well.

Thanks Wildcat good to see you as well. Hope you guys win the 10th Region!! Transy won a good one at Hanover Wednesday in a hostile environment. Rash hit a couple of big shots down the stretch. My "basketball fan legs" are getting weary attending home games and traveling to away games for both high school and College, but I'm not complaining. Best of luck to your grandsons!!!!
