PERRY COUNTY CENTRAL 69, ASHLAND BLAZER 54: Jaysean Paige, a transfer from Jamestown, N.Y., had 32 points and 9 rebounds to lead the winners. He’s averaging 22 points for the Commodores. Eighth-grader Braxton Beverly and junior Dalton Cornett added 12 points apiece. Corey Gregg led Ashland with 27 points and 7 rebounds.

Perry County Central is a team that will make some noise in March. The Commodores are solid all through the lineup with Jaysean Paige perhaps being the best overall senior player in the state. Yes, I said the best. The 6-foot Paige is solid. He had 32 points and nine rebounds and was 11 of 17 in the 69-54 win over Ashland. Eighth-grader Braxton Beverly had really improved and is getting bigger and stronger. Junior center Dalton Cornett just gets it done in the middle.
