Coaches nominate players, a ballot is made from the nominations and sent to the coaches to vote on for some of the team. The head coach and staff are able to fill other needs with players of their choice (and often on the recommendation of other coaches) to complete the roster.

 

EG. Last year, the All Stars needed a backup center and a few coaches recommended Chris Collins from North Laurel and after the all star coaches reviewed highlights of him from the 2004 season, he was chosen as the #2 center for the squad.

How do they choose the coach for the all-star team?

The head coaches vote for the coach. A head assistant is selected to help the head coach and will then become the head coach the following year. I don't know yet who the head assistant coach will be for 2006. Nominations were made and has been voted on already. The selection process for the team has worked well the past few years. KY has been winning. I believe the last 5 out of 6 games. I will admit there has been a few very good players not chosen but the team is limited to 40 players. 2 QB's and 8 players are voted by coaches. The selection committee chooses the other 30.
