The Trinity High School basketball team is No. 1 in the first edition of The Courier-Journal’s Litkenhous Ratings released Tuesday.

The Shamrocks are 10-2 after winning last week’s Republic Bank Holiday Classic at Lexington Catholic. They will return to action Friday, hosting Newport Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m.

The Litratings are a computerized ranking of every team in Kentucky, based on strength of schedule, margin of victory and other factors. Games against out-of-state opponents are not included.

Trinity is among nine teams from the Sixth or Seventh Regions in the top 11 of the Litratings. The others are No. 2 Bullitt East, No. 3 Ballard, No. 4 Pleasure Ridge Park, No. 7 Moore, No. 8 Butler, No. 9 Jeffersontown, No. 10 Eastern and No. 11 Manual.

The 11th Region has the other two teams in the top 11 – No. 5 Scott County and No. 6 Madison Central.

No. 12 Clark County is the highest-ranked team from outside the Louisville and Lexington regions.

And this one can go on the bulletin board beside Cantrell for Montgomery County.

I'll take a good BGP, coaches or AP poll any day over any of these other polls.
