Conner 54 Ryle 50

Game played at Conner. Close throughout.

Late basket by Huff followed by a steal and a layup by Huff.

WOW!

Great win for Conner!

WOW!

I didn't think it was a "WOW" score. Ryle hasn't done a lot this year - still working in new players. If Conner doesn't turn the ball over they will have a chance. They didn't turn the ball over.

Going into this contest, it was a 1-5 Conner team against a 1-2 Ryle team. I based my "WOW" on common opponents: Conner lost to Boone by 18 and Cooper by 15. Ryle lost to Boone by 2 and beat Cooper by 13. Just didn't think Conner would win. Maybe I should have just posted "wow".

Gotcha. The Boone game was about 6 or 7 at one point in the 2nd half. The Cooper game was about even through 3 quarters.

I'd still say the Ryle team , with only 4 games played, is still defining roles and figuring out what works. I did like Tate int he post tonight agains the smaller Conner defender. They should have exploited that more. Conner did a nice job limited touches to the two Ryle bigs. Forced Ryle to hit a lot of outside shots to stay in it.

Mays shot well for the most part. James shot fairly well.

I think both teams are a work in progress.

Agreed wholeheartedly. How many seniors graduated between the two teams? 11? 12?

I must say I like when Conner plays Price at PG.

Nice half-court-plus shot by Carter Byrns to end the 1st half.

Tate was held to just 3 points. If Conner can take care of the basketball they are going to continue to improve and be very tough come District time. Love the physical play of Barker right now. Not lighting up the scoreboard but doing a fantastic job of shutting down the opposing team's "go to" guy.

I didn't mean to imply Tate scored a lot from the post. IMO I'd put him down there more often to take advantage of his size and his passing ability. He had a nice assist out of the post.

Re: Barker. He has shut everyone down that he has guarded. He didn't give up any points to Stansberry. Zane McQ had his lowest output. No one scored much inside last night. Add in his ability to feed the post effectively from the wing and you get a lot of value.

I've seen Cooper, Conner and Ryle and I don't think there is much difference in the three. I've yet to see Boone but this district may be wide open.

Boone is the favorite IMO.
