You either are for the concept of privacy until cause is shown or you're not. You can't have the ends justify the means. You can't be for the Constitution and say "it's OK to spy on citizens who have not shown any reason to be suspected of a crime IF it turns out they were." Its' really that simple.

 

However, because I know you're hiding behind a legal ruling I will say that the Appeals court overruled the initial ruling that it was unconstitutional. Why? Not because they thought it wasn't unconstitutional but , rather, they said the claimants could not show cause. A legal Catch-22.

Two questions:

 

1. How do you define "martial law?"

2. Where does it say he can impose martial law?

Obama has used the wire taps way more than Bush did. The calls Bush listened to where in-coming calls from from countries that harbored terrorist... But I do agree both bills stink.. I'm not for "concepts" I'm for reality..

Incorrect. The executive order gave the NSA the right to monitor all phone calls, emails, texts, and web browsing.

Not naive at all. I am sure the NSA, CIA etc. were guilty of wire tapping citizens long before 911. Just stating how that part of the bill was "explained"...

Section 1031 although the bill has been re-worded so many times its hard to tell exactly how the final bill was written.
