Until Menifee gets a coach and keeps a coach for an extended period of time they will never be successful. Just look at the past 10 years. What is it something like 5 coaches in 10 years and one of those coaches was the guy from Bath Co. (Can't remember his name) and he was there for 5 or 6. Here is a little history lesson for everybody on Menifee Co basketball and if I am wrong somebody please correct me. Starting in 1990 Larry Brown for 2 years (.500 ball both years) He was let go and the bad thing is he took his son to Morgan. Miller, great coach (went to the semis of the region one year had a couple bad years and he left and went to Hancock Co (don't know if he was fired or what) Tim Hacker one year and he was run out of town on a rail. Bath Co guy (4 or 5 years) went to the region one year had a really bad season and was dismissed. Scotty Johnson one year and he was forced out. Jeff Brown for 2 years won 17 games in two years, forced out. Rick Parsons one year won 9 games and played an exciting type of ball. 8 coaches in 15 years. Morgan Co what 3 coaches in 15 years, 5 or 6 district titles 1 regional title, Rowan 3 coaches in 15 years 5 or 6 district titles 2 or 3 regional titles. i love menifee co and have been a supporter of theirs of 20 to 25 years. Where is the problem. One word and that is parents who think they are smarter than every coach we have ever had. I am in the stands and here the comments, I will be shocked if Combs can put up with it for two years. Now Menifee Co get behind your players and coaches and I swear this Menifee co team can win the district this year. I have not seen Fleming but Menifee can play with Rowan and Bath.

Unfortunately, parental push outs are increasingly common this day and age. The biggest problem in youth sports today is parental negativity and actions that are not conducive to a winning attitude or environment.

 

In addition to parental gripes, you also have those select few 'has beens that never were' who feel like they need to make a decision for the school or put their two cents worth into a situation when, in reality, they couldn't play lick, coach a lick, or fathom the thought about how to run an athletic team of any level.

 

Lastly, local yocals across the country in small town America who are surprisingly given the opportunity to voice an opinon or have input towards their coaches are among the losing themself. They probably never will admit the 5-21 seasons they endured as a player, or the brief coaching stint as a volunteer coach in which they couldn't muster any program production, but HEY, they have all the answers for someone who probably has forgotten more about basketball than THEY would ever know.

 

The following phrase is an immediate turnoff heard ringing through the hills of EKY and other places besides....
