Lived here a short while, moved from Ohio. There, Highest seeded team hosts round 1, then all games @ nuetral site from that point. What is the thought process behind how KY does it? Does not quite seem equitable that a Beechwood team has to travel all the way down state for a state semifinal game. Same with Somerset coming to Northern KY to play HC. With the sheer # of teams that make it in KY, I can understand even first two rounds, but seems from there a neutral site with Field Turf should be the venue.

We don't use a computer, for one thing. The home field flips from year to year, so last year Mayfield was the team that had to make the five hour semi journey. Honestly, I wouldn't mind a neutral site for late round games just because of the likelihood of expanded seating capacity, but it's not critical. Sometimes you just have to play to a hostile audience. Personally, I like the road trips.

Welcome to BGP and the Commonwealth. As a brief explanation of the KY playoff system,

* - 2 of the 8 statewide Districts face each other in Rounds 1 - 3 with higher seed hosting. If even # seeds face in RD3, alternating years for home field advantage.

* - 2 of the 4 statewide Regions face each other in RD4 with alternating years for home field advantage, regardless of seed or record.

* - Final 2 face each other in RD5 at neutral site.

I like home field in RD1-3 because it is "earned" (unless alternating because of even seeds).

I wouldn't mind seeing neutral site in RD4, but 12 games on Thanksgiving weekend could be an administrative hurdle.

Very true. The fans and teams would be willing, but finding sites with college teams still playing might be quite difficult.

Home field advantage is a good thing!

Yes it is.
