DragonFire Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Obviously much closer than most would have anticipated, and Central actually had to come from 14 down in the 4th Quarter to win it. I felt like Central didn't respond very well at the beginning of the game. They were proverbially "still on the bus". Saw much of the same thing at Meade County. Road trips just don't seem to agree with them. Ballard had a nice drive to score first then hit a flea flicker bomb to go up 13-0. Central got one score back but had the PAT blocked, making it 13-6 at the half. What really nearly won the game for Ballard was in the second half they took advantage of some cushions on their WRs and threw short pass after short pass to march for two scores. Central matched them score for score, but that left them down 27-13 into the 4th Quarter. The defense was able to adjust and get some needed stops, and the offense never stopped rolling. Central had 510 yards of offense. I'd imagine Ballard's total was not too shabby either. All in all, a tough road win that was disappointingly tough because of the expectations, but on the plus side it exposed something that the Dragons need to work on, and they have two weeks to patch that up before they meet the Purples. On the very positive side, this pushed Central to 7-0 for the first time in school history!
UK fball fan Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Yeah, I was a little surprised by the score and more surprised they had to come from behind to do it. Ballards a 1 win team that has lost worse to some pretty average teams. WC needs to learn to play 4 qtrs and not put themselves in that deep a hole. Teams like BG, CC, JH won't be as kind if they get a lead like that.
DragonFire Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 They actually haven't lost worse to average teams, but they have lost worse to teams that Central is thought to be on the same level as. Two TD loss to Louisville Central, 4 TD loss to Manual. Lost by 3 to Western, who is quite average.
