Grantmom
Braves are working very hard. They are learning a new offense, new coach, new QB who was WR last two years. Coach Arvin is a great guy and has brought this team together.
vicki@vickiturner.com
There were several incomplete passes on the Grant side caused by #22 Williams bearing down on the passer. They finally put 2 to 3 guys to hold him back.
First Musketeer
Congrats Rebels! You're off to a great start. I don't know the record, but I imagine its been a long time since Grant has lost one to Owen.

sportsmaniac
Amazing how everyone was calling for Coach Davis' head last year after losing to Owen Co. 14-13. Grant loses to them 20-6 this year and the coach is doing a good job???

Grant loses to them 20-6 this year and the coach is doing a good job??? Totally different situation. There are expectations that one has if a coach has been there for 4, 5, 6, 7 years or so, that you don't necessarily have of a coach who's there for two games. (I mean, come on, should UK fire Coach Cal because he hasn't won a championship in his first couple of years?) Talent/experience levels at a key spot or two are also different from last year to this. sportsmaniac
How is it different? Wasn't there starting QB only a sophomore last year? Wasn't that his first year as a starter? How is that different than this year. The QB this year is a junior? Granted a position change and growing pains to be expected, but wouldn't you expect growing pains from a sophomore as well?? If they don't have expectations to beat an A school then what are their expectations????
Grantmom
The previous QB started part wayb into his frosh. yr. He has had a lot of experience as a QB. The current QB has virtually no experience in this position. He is doing what is best for his team. Things were looking bad for the previous coach before last year. The players this year DO want to win and are working hard to learn a new offense. It is not their fault that they have a new coach. They deserve the same support that would be given to any other team.

It is asking a lot of him to switch positions his junior year and i am sure he will do a good job this year and be even better next year. I am sure the kids on this years team DO want to win, but i am sure that the kids last year wanted to win too! I just don't understand why people blast on the old coach for losing against a team and the new coach can lose to the same team and it is OK. A new system might take some time to learn, but 17 year old kids need retaught every year! The same people that complained about Coach Davis will complain about Coach Arvin in a year or 2. They are never happy for long.
Grantmom
You are right, some people will never be happy. Someone is always going to complain. Yes, MOST of the team wanted to win last year. There were a few though because of what they probably heard at home caused problems for last year's coaches and teammates. Some of them felt like skipping practices and things like that were okay. All I know is that this is a new season. It SHOULD ALWAYS be about the athletes. I hope for the sake of the team, we as adults can let it be about THEM!!!
