Madison Central’s Dominique Hawkins

Domonique-Hawkins05111-202x300.jpgOne of the players statewide that had been under the radar a bit - Madison Central’s Dominique Hawkins - has played himself into a lot of attention.

The 6-foot-1 junior-to-be turned in a solid two events for The Ville in helping his team finish second in the adidas Invitational and make a solid showing in the HoopFest.

Hawkins had already heard from Indiana and Arkansas but the attention should pick up quite a bit.

The guard did a little bit of everything for The Ville.

"I feel like I played my best every day, or I tried," Hawkins said, noting a lot of coaches were watching. "I tried not to look around much but I still did see all of the coaches watching.

"I’ve improved my free throws and taking the ball to the rack and I think that’s helped me a lot. It’s been a lot of fun."

Hawkins said he was invited to Indiana’s elite camp and the IU staff watched him in several games. But currently he doesn’t have any offers.

He's one of the most polite kids I've had the pleasure of meeting. Great kid and he can flat score. I love seeing kids like him succeed. I wish him all the best.

I was very impressed by him when we played them last year. Play them again this year, so I will see how much he has improved.

I don't see a lot of basketball, but he was the best underclassman I saw last year.
