Boyle County 2011/2012

Featured Replies

Basketball season for 2011/2012 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Boyle County? Remember, please be constructive.

Boyle County should be one of the top 3 teams in the 12th region this year.

Whether they will be remains to be seen and depends on how much heart they have and how serious they take putting in the necessary work to become better players.

The talent and experience is there as the Rebels return one of the top players in the 12th region in senior point guard Micah Satterly. Also returning are big man and 2 year starter senior Michael Arnett and senior Kyle Rice who plays a wing position for the Rebels. Rice started some during his sophomore year and all of his junior year. Those 3 do not play football and are currently playing AAU ball for Kentucky Takeover.

Other returning players include starter senior Tommy Hastings and senior 6th man Zach Hester who will likely move into the starting lineup. These two both play football and will be key players upon the end of the football season. If I had to guess Zach Hester led the team in deflections last year and IMO is our best on the ball defender and overall defender. He has a tendency to get in foul trouble and if he can find a way to stay aggressive defensively without getting into foul trouble then we are easily a better team. These two guys will determine a lot of our success. If we can get 12 points a game from Tommy and 10 points and 8 rebounds from Zach we will easily win the region.

Other players with a chance to get some PT and shine as well are junior Aram Martin, junior Brett Jones, junior Devan True. Sophomore Chase Walker has an opportunity to make a tremendous difference if he can find a way to stay motivated and figure out how to make his motor run the way it should.

I'll have a better grasp on this team after the month of June is over and I have a chance to evaluate this month of practice and camps. I will say this.....this team can have a memorable season IF they put in the work and develop the heart they used to play with back in the 9th grade. I worry about their heart and even their aspirations to win the region. I question their mindset or the mindset I believe they need in order to win the region which is something that is possible if they believe in themselves as I do. This Boyle County team is definitely capable of winning the region and having some fun at Rupp in March. But not if they don't take care of business mentally and physically in the offseason.

I guess we'll see what happens.......stay tuned.

When do they have camps, etc. going on? I"d like to check the team out this summer, if possible.
