I don't mean this in a negative way. What I mean when I say this is both are cut from the same mold imo when it comes to winning and building championship teams. But when Fairce was at Breathitt basketball ruled the roost. Of course he didn't have football to compete with in those days, but I've talked to many of his former players and the impression I get is he was very protective of his basketball program. I don't think he would have liked sharing too many of his kids with football if it meant taking away from his plans or risking injury. And he sure had a bunch of players over his career at Breathitt that probably could have been good at football: "Big" Earl Stevens, Henry B. Combs, Eugene Cundiff, Cecil Clair, Charlie Turner, Larry Noble, just to name a few.
