I would think it depends on who KC hires to replaced Mills. Scotty Russell is getting a lot of support locally and is considered a leading candidate. However, the administration has assured us that they will go after the best they can find. Scotty ran the offense while Wayne was the defensive architect. Knox Central will need to hire either a defensive minded head coach or, if Russell is given the job, a defensive coordinator.

 

Unlike last time, KC is now an upper level program with great facilities and a top notch feeder program. A very attractive job that should get the attention of numerous quality coaches. It should be interesting to see who applies.

Bell's current staff for the most part will stay intact.

Craig Yeast would be a good fit if he were to put in.

I believe that Coach Greer is finished and he has said that many times. He will not be coaching football next season at all.

That's what I've been hearing since last summer. I thought he might stay on one more year to ease the transistion.

No I think that it is done. Said it was alot harder since his son has graduated.

I am somewhat surprised by this decision. In my opinion this will be a great boost for Bell County and a huge loss for Knox Central. Coach Mills along with Coach Saylor at Rockcastle are considered by most people in eastern Kentucky as the best defensive coaches around. Good luck to Coach Mills.

Ditto wo what nearus150 said. This is a huge hire for Bell football in my opinion. Coach Mills was the heart and soul of Knox Centrals football program and will be hard to replace.

Most are expecting current offensive coordinator Scottie Russell to be promoted to head coach. I think the key will be bringing in a quality defensive coach to take over Mills' primary duties. However, the Knox Central job is now a highly desirable position and I would expect there to be a good number of applicants to look over before a final decision is made.

 

As for Coach Mills, we appreciate all that he has done at KC and wish him nothing but the best.
