December 3, 201015 yr I'm bored at work and watching old performances on YouTube. So let's spend the end of the work week sharing videos. I'll define "old" very loosely, at least 15 years old...so pre 1995 I've been listening to Nina Simone a lot this week. Here is one of my favorites. Nina Simone - "Ain't Got No (I've Got Life)"
December 3, 201015 yr Author I like this video because you never see Hopkins on an electric. Lightnin' Hopkins - "Rock Me Baby"
December 3, 201015 yr Author Here is a much more typical Hopkins performance: Lightnin' Hopkins - "Hurricane Beulah" and "Baby, Scratch My Back"
December 3, 201015 yr Author Here is my last one for a bit. For fans of country music I highly recommend listening to some TVZ. This footage appears in the documentary, Heartworn Highway. Townes Van Zandt - "Waiting Around to Die"
December 3, 201015 yr Here is a much more typical Hopkins performance: Lightnin' Hopkins - "Hurricane Beulah" and "Baby, Scratch My Back" Yeah...that's where I'm itching at. Love me some Lightnin'. I've got a personal rule that whenever I see anything of his on vinyl, I buy it. If I own it already, I'll give it to somebody to have. (I got one of my brothers to buy a turntable that way a few months back - he suddenly owned two Lightnin' Hopkins albums and had nothing to listen to them with.)

Let me know if you ever have any you need to get rid of.
December 3, 201015 yr The Faces covering a Temptations song..."(I Know) I'm Losing You". Great cover - I think I even prefer it to the original.
December 3, 201015 yr Author The Faces covering a Temptations song..."(I Know) I'm Losing You". Great cover - I think I even prefer it to the original. Good stuff. Anyone got some old videos they really like?
December 3, 201015 yr Author A friend of mine stopped over for a bit and suggested I play this one: I personally always like it because my Granny & Granddaddy give Mom a hard time about singing this one around the house when she was a young'un. Tanya Tucker - "Delta Dawn"
December 3, 201015 yr Author The Queen of Rock. I saw her live this past summer and she was still fantastic. At age 72 she still had the energy she does in this video and the same playful sass on stage. Wanda Jackson - "Hard Headed Man"
December 3, 201015 yr The Faces covering a Temptations song..."(I Know) I'm Losing You". Great cover - I think I even prefer it to the original. Nice pick. "Bad 'n' Ruin" by the Faces might be one of the best songs of all time.
December 4, 201015 yr One more from the same friend. Loretta Lynn - "Fist City" My all-time favorite Loretta Lynn song.
