If you want to have four team districts that makes more sense than sending someone from our area to drive through 3 districts to get to a playoff game with teams that they did not play against all year.

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association today revised its football realignment plan, placing Simon Kenton back in a Northern Kentucky Class 6A district with Boone County, Campbell County, Dixie Heights and Ryle.

 

The grouping — District 6 — will be the state’s only five-team district in Class 6A.

 

The fifth-place team in the district still will make the playoffs. It will be the No. 4 seed in District 2, which became the 6A’s only three-team district after Paul Laurence Dunbar was moved to District 7. District 2 consists of Central Hardin, Meade County and Nelson County.

No matter how bad your record is in this district you still make the playoffs?

Hats off to the SK folks for the "outside the box" thinking. Their ".05 miles close" argument was a bit, shall we say, weak. Glad to see it work out. SK needs to be in the NKY district.

 

I'm glad it worked out as well but man......... you have to come to the table with something other than the .000001 miles closer stuff. That is somewhat embarrassing to think we couldn't have provided better logic. Thank goodness the KHSAA understood the concept of keeping NK teams together.
