In all reality, no Shame at all. I agree it would be fun to see the HHS/NewCath rival rekindled. But lets face it, it would not be pretty. This doesnt bother me one bit if NCC elects not to play. This game would mean nothing to the outcome of the small school standings but rather be a strain on NCC personnel and put them in jepordy of injuring a key player or so. If this is true that NewCath is calling this off then I say "so what". No shame to call it off in an effort to protect your program. This is why when teams and coaches sit down and schedule how they pick and choose their opponents wisely and not schedule based on their heart. Then why schedule the game in the first place? I don't think it is a good example for the kids, or anyone else, to back out on a commitment. I realize the odds were greatly against NCC, but so what. How many games would be canceled, on every level, every week, if one team backed out because the odds were greatly against them. This is one of the problems I have with scheduling smaller schools.

Or...they're in the playoffs in their division, which would take precedent.

 

Would of been nice to know these little details when planning the schedule. It would of given Nick B or whoever time to schedule a "Better" Match up. Maybe find another school that if remotely on the same level with numbers. Maybe a trip to Jeffeson County. I remember in 2005 the Bird's frosh traveling to Bullit East for a Thurs night game. And it was a last minute matchup as well. Lets get on the phone and find an opening. These kids that have been practicing for the last 3 months shouldn't be told, no....were not going to play our last game because the other team can't. That's bogus!!!

A game tonite? Even the young CCH boys were quiet in practice perhaps it was that 61-0 3rd quarter screen saver that I use.
