I can start 3 RB's, but who do I bench out of these 4?

Ray Rice - He is a stud, but he is going up against the #1 ranked D from last year.

Shonn Greene - I think he could have a break out year, but Balt D has always been hard to run on.

CJ Spiller - I really like the rookie. I think he is a poor mans C Johnson, but he is still a rookie. It helps his cause that the other RBs on his team are banged up.

Tim Hightower - Not as talented as Wells, but is a solid player. Wells has not practiced at all this week.

Rice and Greene are two obvious ones and out of Spiller and Hightower I think I like Spiller more.

Hightower plays the Rams and Spiller plays Dophins.

With it being week one, you have unanswered questions from each one.

*How much will LT cut into Greenes carries?

* Will Rice get any goal line touches this year?

* How will the Bills use Spiller?

* Will Wells play week one?

I am thinking about benching Greene? :idunno:

I woulnd't bench Hightower. Wells is doubtful and not expected to play, so he'll get the bulk of the carries against the lowly Rams. Plus he catches a lot of balls out of the backfield. In my big money league, I'm taking a shot and benching Jamal Charles in favor of Hightower.

I would be a little worried about Spiller until you know for sure just how much the Bills are going to split carries with their other backs. Plus, they're the Bills - how much offense can they really generate? :D

Be sure to forget my post if he throws up a blank this weekend. :D

I had no idea about Wells. That does make a big difference.

It does make a big difference. I am now leaning towards Spiller getting benched. I'm sure I will change my mind several more times...

^ If Wells is out I am for sure playing Hightower.

This is an easy choice for me. I'd bench CJ Spiller. Ray Rice would never be benched on my team. It doesn't matter who Baltimore plays. He's an even safer back than most because of his pass catching ability.

I think Shonn Greene is going to be a stud this year. The Jets ran the ball 607 times last year (82 more than the #2 ranked team). They lead the league in rushing yards and scored 21 rushing TD's. Obviously, you'll want to keep an eye on how Greene performs, but he's a bruising guy and the lead back in a team that runs a ton. Even if LT gets some touches, there's plenty to go around. I think you have to start a guy like that. Say LT gets 200 carries in 2010...if they run the ball 600 times again, that would still leave Greene with 300+ carries. Until I see him flop, I view Greene like Rice. I'm starting him every week no matter who the Jets play.

So, the decision is between Spiller and Hightower. Recent news sways my decision. Apparently, Beanie "Glass Joe" Wells has a mysterious knee injury, and it sounds like Hightower may get the start and the higher percentage of touches. Beanie hasn't even practiced this week, so it's possible he won't play at all. The Rams are a very favorable matchup, and it's likely the Cardinals, with Warner gone, will be more committed to running the football. And, Hightower is a decent receiver to boot. All of that adds up to a good play for Hightower, IMO.

Spiller is an unknown. Sure he's been impressive in the pre-season, but let's remember a few facts. He's still a rookie. This will still be his first ever NFL game. The Bills still have Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch. And, the Bills are still terrible, especially offensively. So, do you really want to start a rookie in his first game who will be sharing touches on a terrible team? I think Spiller could be a good fantasy producer, but I'm not expecting a lot right out of the gate. I still think Fred Jackson will get the higher percentage of touches early on. I figure Spiller's workload will be gradually increased as the season progresses.

Beanie's injury is the difference.

To me, Rice, Greene and Hightower are the obvious plays.
