GRC will travel to Montgomery Co Friday night. GRC did not play this past week. Montgomery Co is always a big rival game for GRC, but we both have respect for each other. It will be an emotional game for the Cards, first game since the death of Mykal Barnes and the Montgomery Co football boosters have been raising money for the family and will present it at the game.

I look forward to seeing the new field at MC.

Your thoughts on this game.

This game will be closer than many people predict.

GRC - 35

Mont Co - 28

Glad to be back on BGP!

So glad to have you back!!!

I agree that this game will be close. Just hope the Cards can pull out the win.

GO CARDS!!!!

I saw the way the Cards played against Bryan Station and saw how they went to a totally different level in the second half. This is a team fighting with a lot of emotion which I feel will be seen on Friday. To this team's credit, they have pulled together to overcome the most difficult obsticle which is death and I truely think this has made them a stronger team. It makes me proud to be a former Cardinal. It is also very touching to see how MC has raised money for Mykal, which is a class act but the coach and community. There is something to be said about high school football in Kentucky.

Coaches talk about the game:

Gooch said his team’s top concern is the Cardinals’ team speed. In its season-opener, Clark rushed for 312 yards. Pokey Harris paced Clark’s running game with 121 yards and four touchdowns against the Defenders. “We had some good runs and I thought our young (offensive) line did a good job,” Columbia said. “At one point, we had three sophomores and two juniors playing on the line and none of those were starters last year.”

“Their offensive and defensive line is very solid,” said Gooch. “They are playing very good football right now. They may be the best team that we’ll play this year.”

Clark’s top priority will be containing Montgomery County’s all-purpose offensive threat Seth Dotson. “He’s a wide receiver, wing back, quarterback, a safety, punt returner and kickoff returner,” Columbia said. “They use him in a lot of different ways. We also need to get pressure on their quarterback, too.”

Last week, Montgomery County held a moment of silence in memory of Mykal and wore the #8 on their helmets. Tonight, MCHS will again have a moment of silence for the Clark County player to remember him. Lots of emotions going into this game tonight, will be a dandy!

It will be a very emotional game, and I think the support that Montgomery Co has shown the Barnes Family, GRC, and athletes across the state is amazing. I have the greatest respect for that entire programs.

Looking forward to seeing their new field tonight.

Is the rain going to hold off tonight?

No doubt it will be the best team MC plays all year. They may have the weakest schedule in 5A this year.

Very class act by the Montgomery Co program. Those close to the MC program, tell them that the Clark Co community really appreciate thier love and support. Yes it will be a very emotional game.
