July 12, 201016 yr We already know Orton bombed this Summer, but I guess theres no where to go but up, especially banging against Howard and Gortat every day. Ewing coaching isn't going to hurt either. Lance Stephenson had a big time summer so far down in Orlando, basically the opposite of Orton. Joe Crawford had a nice Summer League stint, looking to get an offer from someone. Wall was pretty impressive in his debut last night, minus the eight turnovers. Had 24 points, 8 assists in a Wizards summer league win. Cousins playing right now, looking pretty good. Matched up primarily with Greg Monroe the whole game. He is expected to play the 5 once everything gets going but is playing four while Whiteside has mostly played five today. With that said Cuz has basically done anything he has wanted to against a very athletic Greg Monroe. Cuz even hit a nice fader with an and one early in the game.
July 12, 201016 yr Author Also, Wall and Bledsoe face off tonight at 10 o'clock. Can't wait for that.
July 12, 201016 yr Author Some other things from the Kings/Pistons game. Sosa is getting a little bit of clock for the Pistons summer league team, has six points thus far. Wayne Chism has been in to give Cuz a blow every now and then, and he is still Wayne Chism, rocking the goofy yam aka headband. Terrico White looking pretty good for Detroit, perhaps keeping Sosa on the bench a little more than he would like. Doubtful he has any kind of shot to make an NBA roster any way but I'm sure he wants minutes (Sosa). On the Sacramento side, last years early 20's pick Omri Casspi has played pretty well. Very versatile for his size.
July 12, 201016 yr Author I know its just Summer League but the more I watch this Kings team and think about it, the more I really like what they are doing. Hassan Whiteside has looked good and moves very well for his size. Omri Casspi has also looked good and gave quality minutes, and Cousins has already been spoken for. Tyreke Evans is a very versatile guard who is going to provide scoring in the backcourt for many years to come, and Carl Landry really looked good being his right hand man at the end of last season. Donte Green should be a big asset going forward as well. You throw Jason Thompson into the mix, and think about the development the young bigs are going to be getting playing alongside Samuel Dalembert, then the cap space they will have free when Dalemberts deal runs out, you have a bright future with a lot of young pieces in place. I really don't know why teams didn't put the full court press on trying to get Beasley from Miami, especially teams like the Kings. The Heat were basically giving him away, and although utterly lazy and somewhat disapointing thus far you have to take into account the fact he is still on the rookie salary pay scale and would be low risk high reward as far as money goes. I think Beasley should be showcased at the three position a lot more and in position to roam the floor more freely. But with that said, a Ronnie Brewer or someone like that would also be a nice addition to this young Kings team. None the less, future looks bright after the last part of the decade was spent dwelling the bottoms of the NBA depths.
July 13, 201016 yr Author Cuz more than likely seen his last action of the night, comes out as a whole new five comes in for the Kings. Just about three minutes left in the game and they are up by twenty some points. Cousins has 14 and 11 and has looked good. Summer League play is dominated primarily by the guards so that is certainly a good first effort IMO.
July 13, 201016 yr Also, Wall and Bledsoe face off tonight at 10 o'clock. Can't wait for that. Me to I have been pumped all day about that.
July 13, 201016 yr Author Caracter has having a really good summer league so far. Sorry Cards fans. He really is. Lakers normally don't keep too many of their picks around, especially second rounders, but they may have found some steals with Caracter and Ebanks. Your the LA guy HT, you think Jerry Buss is going to extend DC and Ebanks contracts?
July 13, 201016 yr Author Me to I have been pumped all day about that. It's going to be crazy to say the least, crazy to see anyway as a UK fan. I really hope Bledsoe can have a good summer leaguem they already have Davis and Gordon, then they bring in Foye as well who is a combo guard, so minutes keep looking slim on paper for Bledsoe this season. He'll need a few years to season and develop anyway, but would like to see him get some clock this year.
July 13, 201016 yr He really is. Lakers normally don't keep too many of their picks around, especially second rounders, but they may have found some steals with Caracter and Ebanks. Your the LA guy HT, you think Jerry Buss is going to extend DC and Ebanks contracts? I think they both make it if they keep playing like this. Low cost options. Both have lots of potential.
July 13, 201016 yr I could definitely see Caracter being a guy the Lakers like. I'm not sure about Ebanks, but he could provide some length and defense on the perimeter. They needed to add a shooter or two IMO though.
July 13, 201016 yr Why would you not? He's average at best IMO. He may be an above average 3 point shooter, but not someone I'd want spacing the floor in a big game.
