Demling Ranks KY's Class of 2012

Featured Replies

Too bad shes not at Boone. The Deming girl might be high. Demling muts have had some of our ooole Maysville Moonshine if he doesnt have any Louisville players in that bunch.

If her knee is healed Carmack will be a strong and capable opponent for anyone in the 10th and most likely in this state.

Class of 2012 rankings - girls

After watching several games with each player this past season, I switched the top spot in the Class of 2012.

That first sentence says a lot considering Carmack was injured in the pre-season and didn't play all season or much, if any, the season before. I do think she will come back strong but after two years lost, how strong? Will her style of play be more reserved so as not to risk another injury? We'll see.

I think to rate her in the top twenty after missing two seasons is a little odd, though. It really hurts Demling's credibility as far as I'm concerned to say he based his rankings on games he watched last season when his number 17 pick didn't even play a regular season game. And it is nothing personal, I think Kelsey Carmack is a great player and a great kid.

Maybe I am the only one who thinks it's odd? Maybe he means the top few spots....maybe those are the players he watched play several games? IDK?

You could be right in that Demling perhaps saw most of the players but maybe not all. He needed to get to a Top 20 so perhaps relied on inputs from others to get the bottom part of his list. I do know he sees a lot of players and, IMO, does a pretty good job overall in his rankings. Of course any rankings are subjective and generally not to the liking of all who see them. Rick Bolus is another who ranks players and I see perhaps more to question (from my perspective, based on players I have seen) in his rankings than with Demling's. Bolus seems to have a bias toward those who attend his camp. Understandable I suppose, and probably good for business (!), but not necessarily conducive to accuracy overall.

All in all, ranking players is a tough task. But rankings do give folks something to talk about and agree/disagree on.......and that's always interesting!
