Just got word that Shelby pulled off the win 10 to 9 to win the 8th region in 11 innings.

A game of many big mo changes, Shelby County is up 4-0 and Anderson County fights back to 4-3, Anderson has a big inning goes up 7-4 then Shelby in the bottom of the same inning hits back to back dingers to tie it at 7. It stays that way for 4 innings with both teams having chances to win the game and Anderson goes up 9-7 in the top of the 11 then Shelby scores 3 in the bottom to win. 4 hours and 16 minutes!

Wow most games that long would start to bore most people but that sounds like an excellent game! Congrats and good luck to Shelby at state!

Shelby vs. West Jessamine at State. Should be a good game.

Man that was a crazy game. Both teams played their butts off. Just when you thought one team had it the other would do something to get back in it. Shelby had a golden chance to end it one time a Anderson pulled off a trick pick off that work and took the momentum with them to the dugout. Then Anderson scores 2 in the top of the 11th. Man that could have been it but Shelby then finds a way to get it done. Awesome job!!!!

Had the opportunity to see this championship game as well as most of the tournament. What a championship game! Hated to see my Oldham teams bow out...but, hey...maybe next year! That trick play was awesome! Both teams played with a lot of heart and determination. That Russell kid is an iron man. I also like Shelby's shortstop. He had a great tournament.

Best high school game...make that the best baseball game I've ever seen. Both teams executed flawlessly. 11 innings and only two AC errors and none by Shelby. It was almost as if it was divine intervention for Shelby to win this game. No matter what Anderson threw at them, Shelby always had an answer. Eric Standafer showed why he was voted all region and East/West All Star. He came in the game late and shut Anderson down for 2+ innings and then just ran out of gas after 6 innings in the first round of the tourney. He also hit the game tying HR and the game winning RBI in the bottom of the 11th. Congrats to Standafer....he seems to be a great kid. Also congrats to the Shelby players and the staff. That is a really nice baseball team. Go coach Roettger.

 

This game, coupled with the district finals game, made 19 innings of even baseball. Shelby was just a smidge better this year. Good luck to the Rockets in their final year as the "one" school in the county.

 

Also, for Shelby, good luck with the Civil War going on over there with the split. I've heard only great things with how well the two schools are coping and I've also heard everyone has been so encouraging and loving toward one another over there.
