John 10:26-30 (New International Version)

26but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. 27My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. 29My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all[a]; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. 30I and the Father are one."

Hounds reading this Scripture it would be of your belief that even though he was a disciple and was given power to do miracles, he was never one of Jesus' sheep?

Hounds how do you respond to the thousands who heard the message directly from Jesus' mouth and did not answer His call? Or the disciples/apostles that were there for his teaching and witnessed the miracles and yet did not answer His call?

The only answer based on scripture is that the Holy Spirit draws people to salvation. Apart from that and the numerous scriptures provided to support this I do not know how to make it any clearer. I apparently am not doing a good job. This doctrine rubs the fur wrong on us as prideful human beings but nevertheless it is true. If a person indeed responds to the wooing of the Holy Spirit then they are the elect of God. They would not have the ability to do so otherwise. God is God and He is sovereign. We may not understand it but He does as He sees fit. Our finite human minds cannot grasp the why often times but in His infiinite wisdom and omnipotence He does it His way . . . and it is always the best. God Bless.
