I agree entirely with what you are saying. However, some here (not necessarily Birdsfan) have argued that the simple act of conversing "on the phone" (hands free or not) distracts you more than conversing with someone in the car with you.

I know I have read about this before. The level of attention being paid to someone via a speaker phone, or hand's free type device, requires a different level of attention than someone sitting next to you would. The person next to you in a car can sense danger which plays a huge role.

 

For those arguing a cell phone up to the ear while driving one-handed is just as safe as talking to a person next to you, that is simply not true or you possess genetic super-features most humans do not exhibit.
