How do you win 70% of your games, make it to the regional finals, and lose your job. I'll bet the school's academic record isn't that good. Mr Britt better not buy a house because it appears that they expect quite a bit Mercer County.

Lots of outside issues at Mercer. Hopefully Coach Britt can bring the community together. Mergers aren't easy.

I know he played and had a good career at Centre College. Was an assistant at Danville for 4 years I believe and has been at Mercer County for at least 2 years I believe. I think he has been in coaching for 8 years and this is his first job as a head coach. He coached the JV team this past season. He is well liked by the students and players and is an excellent hire for Mercer. He will likely employ a guard friendly uptempo offense and 32 minutes of pressing on defense.

 

I had the opportunity to work briefly with Coach Britt this winter and he has an infectious enthusiasm for the game and good intentions for the program including the development of young basketball players in Mercer through rec league and club basketball. I think people who don't know Coach Britt will like the things he wants to do to make Mercer basketball better. He will also get some of that talent walking the hallways and not playing anymore back onto the court as well.
