Oh, I found the game and my comments.

 

I have saved all my BGP's comments about the games, schedules, results, stats for the game be it for hitting, fielding and pitching and along with some pictures from some friends that look great, I give each varsity player a CD of them as a memento of their season. The kids as well as the parent seem to enjoy them, so it is a labor of love from me to them, for the enjoyment they have given me and for allowing me to be a part of the fun!

As Clyde posted, while it was a good game, both teams shot themselves in the foot a couple of times. Of course if you are a glass half full, or a half empty type of guy, you could also say that the defense of both teams rose to the occasion, but I will agree with what Clyde said that it will be a learning process for both teams.

The Home Run (380 #1) by Isler was indeed a shot just to the right of the 380 sign but I truly thought the double down the left field line was hit harder but for whatever reason the ball just died prior to going out of the park.

Isler pitched six complete innings and while he didn’t have his best stuff, he gave up only two runs and struck out seven. Young Adam Shumate came in and with the help of an outstanding play by Darner on a shot hit right over the third base bag that RD back handed and then threw over to Isler, who dug the ball out of the ground for the first out of the inning. Shumate then got the next two hitters to go 4-3 and then pop up to Maile to end the game.

Eggemeier, wasn’t there today as he was sick and from what I was told Nutini had been sick Thursday and Friday but felt well enough to play. Also a couple of juniors were taking the ACT test today.

The good: While Isler pitching wasn’t as good as it has been (man am I getting picky in my old age or what) his bat was indeed hot. A HR and a double were fun to watch. Second baseman Logan Siemer had a good day at the plate, as he reached base three times, and his head first slide into home for the second run of the day for CovCath while it wasn’t text book, it was effective. CovCath did not commit an error and Tyler Holocher had five assists and one put out.

The bad: Base running. CovCath needs to understand that the other teams can and do makes plays also and when you have batters coming up like Maile, Darner and Isler you don’t need to take chances.

The ugly: The deep outfield! While the infield and the short outfield were in pretty good condition, the deep outfield was very wet. It won’t take much to rain out the Monday, Tuesday and or Wednesday games.

Lafever 3 PA 1 walk 1 caught stealing and 1 fc

Schlagbaum 3 PA 1 hit 1 walk and 1 k

Stayton 3 PA 1 rbi and 1 walk

Reese 1 run scored

Isler 91 pitches 6 complete innings 26 PA 6 hits 2 runs 2 er’s 2 walks 7 k’s

Shumate 10 pitches 1 complete inning 3 PA 0 hits 0 runs 0 walks 0 k’s

BTW, it is prom night. Gentlemen, have fun, but please be smart and safe, not only for yourselves but for the young ladies you are taking out tonight.

Wow, since he puts a ton of time and effort in, everyone should give him a free pass when they disagree with something he posts or how he scores a game. I guess we should just accept it as fact, as well.

 

Someone pointed out a contradiction into his scoring of a play in a game based solely on his being a homer for CCH. When TOG posts the information he is presenting it as fact. All the poster is asking, if you are presenting the information as fact, be consistent and not a homer. Do not have separate standards from one team to another or one year to another.

 

 

If you are going to apply different standards be prepared to be questioned about it.

 

Absolutely ridiculous statement ! TOG is one of the most fair posters on BGP.

As a scorekeeper, he is incredibly fair and consistent, ask any CCH player that may rib him when a decision doesn't go in their favor. The same standards apply to both teams. Are you a "Call it both ways blue" guy DD?

He is an avid and passionate graduate and fan of CCH; however, he is generous with his compliments of all schools, players, coaches, etc. He is also fair with his criticism when CCH does not play well. He is more objective than most posters on the high school forum; he does not have family playing in the game and does not have that emotional attachment that many of us do. Get on the St. Henry vs. CCH thread; His first comments were Congrats to

the Cru, then mentioned how they outplayed, out hustled, executed, etc. better than CCH (and he was right). He has posted detail threads, game assements, boxscores, etc. on many sports and schools, including many that don't involve CCH, and is generally very complimentary and positive. He is a great ambassdor for high school sports, as well as CCH. His attibutes generally debunk any agrument that he is a homer with skewed and biased judgement

or objectivity. You may disagree with his scorers decision, no problem. If you question it in person or on this forum, he generally would justify his rationale. If he's not certain on a call at a game, he may discuss it with his friends around him (CCH and otherwise). I grew up thinking Glenn Sample was the 'dumbest' guy on this planet. All baseball fans question the scorers decision even at MLB level. TOG's stats are for his benefit, and all BGP viewers. They are not the official stats provided to the paper or elsewhere. It is nice service to both teams and their fans. Don't try to minimize his work by calling into question his 'standards' or "motives". If Ryle scored it as an error, no problem. That kind of play can be called either way. I have no idea how the CCH team stat scored it. I would question your motives a lot more Clint for questioning his decision on a bunt single. He didn't mention in his text, only on the boxscores. Was your son the pitcher and it affected his ERA? To quote the h.s. coach who was standing next to me on that play, " doesn't matter, he wasn't going to get him anyway". I thought it was a bad hop, but even if Hempel fielded it cleanly, he wouldn't have gotten an out IMO.

You know I don't mind guys like DD, The Great Game, Coop or others, as they post about HS baseball games, nor do I mind them questioning my accounts of the game, as really it is a honor, as I consder both in love with the game as much as I am and I also consider them all friends, as we have sat together more times than not at games and shot the bull.

 

It's when someone who has never posted in a baseball thread, wants to take a pot shot at my accounts, that wants bug me. Before you start to take pot shots, how about posting something about the games you watch.

 

Be a Coop, DD, The Great Game, Punttheball the young man from Dixe, #5 and many others who spend a lot of time posting about the game we all love!

 

As I have said, it's just my opinion and really it's fine to disagree but how about posting something about the games you watch, before you start questioning other peoples opinion!
