Bill Spencer, an assistant coach at Fleming County High School since 1999, was named the school's head football coach recently by school principal Jinny Hurdle.

"We're very proud that Coach Spencer has agreed to lead our football program," Hurdle said. "He has served more than 11 years at the high school and is dedicated to our program and our students."

Spencer takes over for Gene Peterson, who led the Panthers for 10 seasons, and stepped down following the 2009 campaign.

Congrats to Bill he's a great guy. I don't think there's anybody that cares more about the kids there. Best of luck!

Congrats to him. I thought he might have a pretty good chance at the job. Always like to see WC grads do well. Hope it's a good fit and I think it will be.
