The only team in the tourney with a losing record survives behind a monster day from freshman Becca Greenwell.

 

 

OCath will take on three-time defending champ Lexington Christian Friday.

How many points did Greenwell end up with? I know at one point I heard the radio announcers say she had 30. Not sure if that was the third or fourth quarter. Bracken County had no answer for her.

She had 26 points and seven rebounds through three quarters. Waiting on the box score.

Senior Katelyne Meyer kid had 5 threes!! What a job running the team as the lady bears were pressed the entire game. Heard in Richmond today she was going to pitch in college. Wow. Kid is about 5' but heart has to be HUGE! Good job by all lady bears as they never gave up!

Greenwell had 34 points and 11 rebounds for OCath.

 

Hannah Height had 20 for Bracken County, who trailed 50-38 at one point.

1. Bracken' s offense for the rest of the season should go through Hannah Haight, they said she didn't know how good she really was and needs 20 shots per game.

2.Meyer - a real baller, left it all on the floor

3.Sticklan - future star, did great job on Greenwell even with all of her points, needs to be more assertive offensively, she has the gifts.

4.Greenwell- lot of calls went her way, Bracken should have tried to take more charges on her to gether in early foul trouble

5. Great BC fan support and band

6. Greenwell could start right now for UK, Wow.

7. Haight had defensive trouble with Robertson because she was left-handed

You didn't make it today? Thought you would not miss this one! The fan support was incredible!! Bracken knows how to support the teams! District tourney is at Bracken this year (i am sure since it was at Mason last year), and I guarantee you that place will be packed since both teams are competitive! Good luck to BRACKEN!!!! :thumb:

Don't forget the Lady Bears plays Clark County at home on Saturday afternoon JV and Varsity:confused: weather permitting:irked::madman:

Too much Greenwell. There are very few (if any) players better in the entire state.

 

Having said that, if BC connects on a few easy lay-ups, they come out the victor.

 

Haight & Meyer brought their "A" games. BC handled OC's full-court pressure really well, but got outplayed on the boards. As a fan, it was a very competitive and exciting game to watch. The BC faithful came out in droves too. Always good to see that.

 

But in the end, the team with the best player won the game.

Haight has to get more than 11 FGA . Really didn't think Greenwell would see so much man defense.

She does need to be more assertive on offense. Haight is a tremendous player, and from what I've heard, the radio people covering the Class A stated that she didn't realize how good she was at getting points (whether from FG's or FT's)--that she needed to look for her shot more.

 

The 11 FGA's are a bit deceiving too, as she did shoot 8-8 from the free-throw line. That's also why she needs to look to score more, because she's BC's best free-throw shooter.

 

I'm impressed with how well she runs the floor on the fastbreak. She had two or three baskets in transition.

 

I think the Class A regional final & state tourney game shows what kind of threat Bracken can be when they handle the press, protect the ball, & shoot well from the perimeter. Will be interesting to see how they perform against GRC on Saturday.
