Very surprising that she wasn't the Tournament MVP after having a monster final. In her three games she had 10, 10 and 27 compared to Sandlin (who was the MVP) who had 24, 9 and 2. Not sure what the committee was looking at. Both had a good tournament but IMO Dixon was better.

 

I didn't see all the games, but points are not all that one must look at to determine an MVP. One must look at rebounds, defense, steals, assists, turnovers, blocks - the total game. Too many times fans only look at points to evaluate who a "good" player is. There is obviously more to being an all around good player than just scoring points.

Don't be too hard on madman as a casual fan who has consistently said he is a fan of high school basketball and doesn't root for any one team on these many WV post. He was just making an observation that many of us were wondering.

It's fine to wonder and discuss in private but I see no reason for these types of remarks on BGPs other than to cause hard feelings and controversies.

Well if we are going to discuss the MVP, I feel that the award should go to the entire 8 or 9 girls that see all the action. This team plays good together and each girl feeds of the others. Very well rounded team. Hope they continue team cohesion in Richmond. Wish them good luck and hope they represent the 8th with class.

Here is my question? Was there any energy in gym last night? When I came in I heard the band and fans screaming (great atmosphere). Unfortunatley for Gallatin all the energy was coming from WV. However I was very disappointed to see Walton's band and not Gallatin's band. What is up with this? Not trying to knock WV, only wondering why Gallatin's band failed to show up. I think when the band is playing and you are winning, that gets the fans all fired up and creates the best atmosphere for all involved. I was extremely disappointed in how Gallatin's fans did not cheer did not stand up at all, not even when the took the early lead. And the band not showing up for the championship game in your own house, they missed the opportunity to cash in on a little home court advantage.

It is all about the boys team down here. They even had a boys ball player tell my daughter to quit shooting the (insert bad word) ball.

Obviously this young lady impressed the committee with her play in the first two games. It broke this young lady's heart when she got hurt and could not play in the game, but she cheered her team on from the bench.

Early into the first quater, Sandlin rolled her ankle. She tried to tape it up and re-enter, but she could not.

That is a shame. Owen County's cheerleading squad didn't even bother to show up however many of them came and supported the team individually. Forget about Owen County's band, they rarely make an appearance even at a home game.

I don't know what you are talking about here the band doesn't show up for many of the boys games either. As far as it being all about the boys I think that is a very unfair criticism when both teams are treated equally and at all the games I've been to the boys team is there supporting the girls. I also don't think that it is fair for adults to get on here and criticize other players by name. If it was my kid I would have a big problem with this.

The girls usually always cheer and stand for the boys but you never see the boys doing this. They just sit there.
