January 1, 201016 yr Just awful conditions and a big time benefit for Penn State as LSU's huge speed advantage has been negated.
January 1, 201016 yr That turf at the Citrus Bowl is terrible. Orlando has had no more rain than we have.
January 1, 201016 yr Author ^ Not really. LSU just can't make a play. True, because they are not used to having their track stars run in quicksand.
January 1, 201016 yr True, because they are not used to having their track stars run in quicksand. Having receivers drop passes that hit off their hands is hardly because of the "slow" field.
January 1, 201016 yr Just awful conditions and a big time benefit for Penn State as LSU's huge speed advantage has been negated. Huge, Huge advantage for Penn State to have this field to be in such a mess. Totally takes away the speed of LSU and I honestly I think the field would be this messed up even without the rain! Sad indeed to play a major college football game on such a poor field! Really makes the "Bowl Committee" and "their Sponsors" look really really bad to have this field being in such poor condition!
January 1, 201016 yr Author Having receivers drop passes that hit off their hands is hardly because of the "slow" field. Call it what you want, the conditions are awful and they benefit the slow grind it out team and that is the Lions not the Tigers.

They have played multiple high school games on the field prior to attempting to sod the field again and they wet, colder weather prevented the sod from rooting.
January 1, 201016 yr Call it what you want, the conditions are awful and they benefit the slow grind it out team and that is the Lions not the Tigers. Both teams are playing in the say crappy conditions. PSU are making plays and LSU isn't. As I am typing this, they are saying the same thing I am...LSU missing easy plays. That's the bottom line.

Should they just put every game in a dome so that weather can't affect the field. It happens all the time.

That's the bottom line. They have had some drops, although the 3 they just showed only the third was truly a drop. The first was a deep ball tipped twice by the PSU secondary and the second was a horrible low throw by the QB into the flat. We will have to agree to disagree if you honestly believe that the conditions are not advantageous to Penn State...

You are right they can not control the weather, but they have had way too many games on the surface in a short span of time to ensure a very good playing surface for the marquee game. I believe there were multiple high school state championships played at the Citrus Bowl and Miami played their bowl game a few days prior.

Just becasue they are a Big 10 teams doesn't mean they are all just power football. They run just as much spread as they do just line up and power. Nobody would even mention this if it was not an SEC team.

Weather has nothing to do with it, it was the amount of the HS games that were played on this "a grass field" prior to this game. Do you understand why UK and at one time the Bengals wouldn't allow HS games being played on their fields? Even in Fla this time of the year, you can't put that much pressure on a field and except it to stand up! They understand the problem because they are going to install turf later this year!

LSU is a much faster team than PSU and relies on that speed much more than PSU. Big Ten apologists would not even be defending the conditions if it was not a SEC team... Like I said, I can agree to disagree...
