CovCath got off to a nine to two run but the Royals came back to take the lead at the end of the first quarter by a score of 14-13. Mason had a hard time at first breaking the Colonels press but when they figured it out, they came back strong.

 

The second quarter found CovCath scoring another 13 points to just 7 for Mason County as CovCath started to play some tough nosed "D" and the score at Half Time found CovCath leading by five 26-21.

 

CovCath continued to play some very good "D" in the third quarter, to the point that if there were a shot clock, the Royals would have had to turn the ball over for not hitting the rim with a shot. CovCath stretched their lead from 5 points at half time, to an 11 point lead at the end of the third quarter 38-27.

 

In the fourth it was CovCath extending it's lead over the Royals as the game ended with a CovCath victory 49-34.

 

Young Mr. Staggs Mason County #13 was indeed impressive. He has a long lean body and he knows how to use it. Keep an eye out 10th Region fans on this fine young player from Mason County!

 

Chambers we were told is a second or third cousin to Chris Lofton and indeed will be something to recon with as he grows into that body. Chambers sister, we were told is the all time leading scorer (boy or girl) at Mason County with 2935 points. She is currently playing for the University of Dayton.

 

The play of the game to me at least, was a steal by Mr. Murphy but it was the play of Mr. Jenkins who was smart enough to shield a Mason County player giving Cameron Murphy a easy lay up. The play won't show up in the stats, he won't even be given an assist but it's heads up plays like this one, that allows your team to win. He indeed did very well in the beginning of this game vs. Mason County and had I think seven points points in first quarter alone, but in the Elder game he got into foul trouble and didn't produce as many points as he did in the earlier game.

 

He needs to work on his "D" but on the boards and shooting, he is indeed a force!

 

Now what I want to know, can he pitch as well as his older brother?

Mason County's frosh not one of their best classes, think they've been beaten by Bracken County and Augusta on multiple occasions. The Staggs kid, I believe went to Augusta last year and transferred to Mason County this season.

#34 looks like he has potential.

Mason County's frosh lost to Harrison and Bracken Co. but sense beat Fleming,Montgomery and Bourbon County until today. They will be just fine they also had a couple of key players out today.

Bracken has beaten all of those freshman teams mentioned, except Harrison I believe. Mason is decent, but not anywhere close to the Mason County teams we have come to expect even with the transfer.

No one said they was. But you said they had been beaten multiple times by Bracken Co. and Augusta and that is not true . Bracken Co. has a nice ball team and i wouldn't take nothing away from their wins by trying to put Mason Co. down the way you are.

This has been a weak class at Mason Co with Chambers being the only one I have seen with any decent size or talent since 5th grade. Not to downplay the Cov Cath win though as they have a very solid squad. Many of those kids played for the Old Spice/RedZone and NKY Flash AAU teams and are very hard nosed kids who play great man-man defense.

I'm not sure on his baseball, I've heard his best sport is basketball.

Really meant they have been beaten multiple times by Bracken and Augusta since middle school, don't even know if they have played against each other more than once as freshman. Just think they need to be coached up better than they have been since middle school
