Not kidding at all, having been involved with this for almost two decades. When I'm in Louisville, I recognize the anti-state bias; when I'm elsewhere in the state, I hear the anti-Louisville bias. However, the type of bias often differs. In Louisville, it's more often ignorance among fans because the coaches don't usually overlook state teams. In the state, the fans don't overlook Louisville teams, but many (certainly not all) tend not to respect them and root for them to lose. Although I wish more respect would be shown both ways, perhaps it's just an inherent part of KY high school sports.

 

Understandably, each newspaper usually emphasizes coverage of its own territory, but rarely satisfactory to the fans. When I read the Cincinnati/N. KY Enquirer, little coverage is given to Louisville teams except when playing N. KY/Cincy-area teams. Lexington's Herald-Leader is hit and miss on Louisville coverage, primarily sticking with 11th-region competition. Louisville's Courier-Journal provides state coverage primarily when local teams play state teams, much like the Enquirer. The same thinking would extend to other papers like Bowling Green.

 

Thankfully, many teams are willing to schedule cross-region games and attend tournaments where multiple regions are represented, like the upcoming Republic Bank Holiday Classic. That allows the games to be decided on the court instead of on message boards. :thumb:

Great win Breds, anytime a Louisville school is knocked off its a victory for all of NKY. Coach Dawn definately knows how to get it done. Congrats.

Excuse me:confused::confused: I wasn't making any excuses. I gave my congrats to NCC. I merely stated what is going on within SHA team at this time. Losing two star players in b-ball is a huge deal. NOT an excuse. I will also say even if these girls weren't hurt...NCC still could have won the game.

 

Do NOT assume because some posters try to make it a Louiville/NKY thing that I do the same. If you actually pay attention to anything I post I am honest, open minded and pretty fair no matter the topic.

What happened to Jackie Hafele? What a shame! She has a great future in soccer ahead of her. Hopefully, her injury is not serious. Not slighting the Miller girl, hopefully she will be alright as well.
