A continuation of the last thread started by Mr. Slate....

Southern (Southwestern Pulaski) had a big night against Lincoln Co. Southern's 7th grade won by 22 (60-38) and the 8th grade won by 16 (60-44). Southern's 7th grade improves to 4-1 and the 8th grade 5-0. Next up for Southern is Northern (Pulaski Co.).

South Laurel won the 7th and 8th grade games at Meece (Somerset) tonight. South's 7th won by 25 and their 8th won by 30 (57-27). Meece won the 6th grade game. South Laurel's 7th grade team improves to 10-0.

The 7th grade division is going to be outstanding this season. Lots of of really good teams in the area. Wayne county, Southern, South Laurel, Lincoln Co, Monroe County and Knox Co are all a threat to win it all.

The 8th grade division is still owned by Moss Middle. They are destroying people so far this season, Southern and Scott Co will be potential final 4 teams as well. Word on the street is that Clinton Co may put their team back together for the Middle School State. Not a done deal but it is in the works. Clinton 8th won at Adair last night to improve to 6-2 without the players moved up to the varsity. It will be difficult for Clinton to advance to their 3rd straight final four with this group but they should field a competitive team at the MSS.

I haven't heard about alot of good 6th grade teams, the best I have seen is Adair County. They have a 5' 10" guard who can really play as well as another really nice guard. Both also start on their 7th grade team. Who are some of the 6th grade favorites?

I think our 7th grade team could possibly be in the Top 5 in the state. 3 of our 7th graders start on the 8th grade team.

Moss will be cosidered the best 8th grade team in the state until someone beats them, and Wayne in 7th grade. Wayne did have a close game last night vs Knox central. They only won by 2 points. Sounds like Knox has a really good 7th grade team if they gave Wayne the closest game they have played in 2 years.:thumb:

Correction... Meece 8th grade won in overtime over South Laurel. Sorry for the bad info.

Hoptown's 7th graders won last night over Lewisburg Middle School in Logan County. I'm not sure of the final score, but it was by a large margin. Hopkinsville hosts Christian County tonight at HMS in both 7th and 8th games.

In the East, Virgie, Johnson Central, and Hazard are all very, very good teams.

I look forward to hearing the scores.

Three of the best teams in the state this year. Some scores from these 8th grade teams:

Johnson Central 76 Martin Co. 29

Virgie 56 Hazard 54 (1st meeting)

Hazard 48 Virgie 45 (2nd meeting)

Any idea what kind of talent and teams they have at Corbin Middle School this year? I know they played football very late due to the playoff runs by the 7th and 8th grade teams and not sure how this affected the basketball teams.

The Hoptown-Lewisburg 7th grade final was 53-20. HMS had 13 of 16 players score during the game.

Southern (Southwestern Pulaski) went to Northern (Pulaski Co.) and took 2 of 3 tonight. Northern's 6th grade won by 10, Southern's 7th won by 20+ and Southern's 8th grade won 69-30. Southern's 7th improved to 5-1 and the 8th is now 6-0.

Johnson County 53 Betsy Layne 46. Betsy Layne is very good with Dylan Hamilton being held back this year. Johnson County is still without point guard Braxton Blair with a broken thumb.

Southern (Southwestern) won the McCreary Central tournament yesterday. They beat a very good Knox Central team 72-67, Williamsburg 30+, and Wayne Co 39-33 in the championship game. Southern's record goes to 9-0.
