Final.

Bardstown played a good game, with a lot of injuries. They will play winner of Washington County/Monroe County at Bardstown next week.

This game was a good win for the Tigers. They played this game after a flu-infested week of practice, and played without their starting QB, starting star wideout, without two offensive lineman, with one tailback nursing an injury, and all three starting linebackers fresh off a week in which they did not practice because of flu.

And in the first half, it looked like it. Bardstown managed an 81 yard TD run by Ricky Harper, but otherwise had nothing offensively. Metcalfe was similarly ineffective. The Hornets had a LB, #55 Shea McCoy, who was all over the place.

On the opening kickoff of the second half, Bardstown's backup-but-starting QB, Bobby Butler, who had had an interception and an outstanding half defensively, suffered a leg injury. He was on the field for several minutes and the air went out of the Tiger sideline. Metcalfe then drove the ball to the Tiger 20, but Bardstown's Terrence Hickman intercepted a pass and returned it all the way to the Metcalfe 42.

From there, Bardstown went to the "Wildcat" offense, with direct snaps to Harper and jet looks from Deangelo Poynter and Jack Whitfield. We haven't really used that much all year, but it was amazingly successful. It froze #55 enough that holes began to open, and Bardstown got a 3rd quarter TD run from Harper from 15 yards, and a 4th quarter TD run from Harper from 11 yards, with little bursts by Whitfield and Poynter sprinkled in. Metcalfe tried to mount a 4th quarter drive, but fumbled the ball in the Tiger end zone.

Bardstown got great defensive efforts from LB Tanner Culver, DT Josh Koontz, OLB Codi Cramer, and DB Ben Lyvers, who also had an interception. Metcalfe's 5 turnovers (3 int and 2 fumble) were the difference in this game.

I love the way the Tigers rallied after the injury to Butler, and the coaches deserve credit for the adjustments. Congratulations to Metcalfe Co., nice group of folks. Always enjoy seeing the Warfs, and got to meet Mr. Wilson from "The Hoss" radio station down in Cave City.

Tough rematch with Monroe next week, but at least its on our turf.

Good win Tigers...now get ready for the Falcons to come to you this year! Falcons rolled over Washington with very little effort, they are a good looking group of kids with some pretty talented athletes. See you next week!!!

Harper ended up with 138 yards on 11 carries, three of them for scores.

We are greatly looking forward to it...was wondering the best way to get up to you all...and any good dining spots for some very hungry football fans?

Congrats Bardstown good luck this week and get healthy the way that it sounds.
