Yankees 7 Phillies 4 World Series game 4

Featured Replies

Who would you suggest for the #4 starter?

Since you can't move Pettite up and with a 3-1 game lead I would put Chad Gaudin and make it a bullpen game (they have done a good job so far). Should you not win then you go home with Burnett, Pettite and/or C.C. I like those odds.

Regardless, Joe imo will make the right decision for his team, he knows far more baseball and his team than I do.

I'd take my chances in game's 6 and 7 with Pettitte and CC. If Philly comes back to win games 5, 6, and 7 while beating Burnett, Pettitte, and CC...they deserve to be world champs. "Conceding" a game with Gaudin could be too costly.

With the Yankees lineup, no way Girardi's conceding this game.A coach thinks he can win every game.

Very good point and I cannot argue with that, especially with the Yanks lineup. My opinion on the pitching was just that and really means nothing, just thought A.J. would be stronger with more rest and not be facing Lee.

Agreed, on both your opinion not meaning much and AJ would be stronger with more rest :D. However, AJ's a nut. He'll be so pumped for this game he'll feel like he's on 6 days rest. He has a chance to win the World Series. He probably didn't sleep much last night.

Good point but I really don't think going with Gaudin would necessarily be conceding a game, especially with how the Yanks bullpen has been throwing.

I have to agree with A.J. being a nut. :thumb::lol:

By the way, did anyone hear Manuel last night say that it was the catcher's job to cover 3rd on the Damon steal? Was he just covering for Lidge or is that really how they rotate?

So you have to make the throw AND run to cover 3rd, while leaving the plate open. Of course, Howard would have to cover there.

Lastly, is it just me or is Charlie Manuel tough to listen to. He sounds like Forrest Gump. No wonder his hitting and pitching coaches do the in-game interviews instead of him. His presser's are atrocious.

I mentioned it in the update thread, but I cannot believe Lidge was just standing there instead of sprinting to 3rd base.

I still think the Phils win tonight.

Also, no way I would've started Cliff Lee in Game 4. Blanton pitched well and was not the reason they lost.

I like the decision to go with Blanton. Now they've got Lee, Pedro & Hamels, if they can make it that far.

After watching how Burnett performed on 3 days rest for the first time in his career I'm not so sure the Yankees didn't "concede" this game.

I was shocked that when the Phillies had 6 runs, they only had 5 hits. Honestly, Burnett's very capable of performing that way on full rest. He's proven that.

I know he is...but to put him in on 3 days rest when he has never done it didn't make much sense to me.
